The One Thing That Aldi Stores Sell Out of On Friday Nights Won’t Surprise You

For all the hoopla about Aldi’s chocolate, cheese, and wine, it’s important to remember that the take-and-bake pizza should be included in the mix as well.A large number of individuals are already aware of them: On one occasion, a representative from the firm informed us that certain locations run out of pizzas early on Friday nights. In general, though, it appears that individuals are not enthused about these items to the extent that they might or should be.

  • So that is exactly what I intend to do right now!
  • The following are some of the things we like about Aldi’s Mama Cozzi’s take-and-bake pizzas and why you should buy them.
  • It’s important to note that the first thing you should know about Mama Cozzi’s pizzas is that they are enormous.
  • They’re 16 inches in diameter, which is two inches bigger than the largest size available at Domino’s Pizza.
  • Additionally, the range includes flatbreads, which are not only large but also bountiful due to the fact that each package contains two of them.

The second thing you should be aware of is that they are reasonably priced. For example, even for Aldi. They typically cost between $4.99 and $6.99.(for the gourmet flatbreads).Sold?

I haven’t even begun to tell you about all of the garnishes!Mama Cozzi’s take-and-bake pizzas are available in a variety of flavors, including pepperoni, meatloaf with sausage, five cheese, supreme, and more. Finally, if you’re looking for something new, MC can accommodate your needs.

  1. Starting with the cheeseburger pizza, which is topped with whole-milk mozzarella and cheddar cheese as well as hamburger patty crumbles, pickles (!
  2. ), tomatoes, onions and ketchup and mustard sauce on the crust, I’ll move on to the other options.
  3. These once-frozen-now-refrigerated pizzas, in contrast to the vast majority of frozen pizzas, do not taste like freezer-burned cardboard.
  4. Everything is completely covered in toppings, and they have a flavor that is extremely near to fresh.
  5. Please keep in mind that some of these outlandish topping combinations are published as Aldi Finds, which means they are only available for a limited period.
  6. (This occurs most frequently from Wednesday to Wednesday.) However, if a particular Aldi Find becomes sufficiently popular, it may be added to the store’s permanent inventory.

I recently tried the Southwest-style flatbreads, which were topped with Monterey Jack and cheddar cheeses, chopped chicken breast, tomatoes, onions, jalapenos, barbecue sauce, and a chipotle ranch drizzle, among other things. They were delicious. They take around 11 to 13 minutes to cook (most of these require between 11 and 16 minutes) and are huge enough to feed a large group of people once again.

What did I think of the flatbreads made in the style of the Southwest?Flavor combinations such as succulent chicken breasts with crisp green beans and tangy ranch dressing, as well as spicy chipotle sauce, create the ideal dish. It’s a good thing that this one is accessible all year. What are your thoughts? You may have heard good things about the Mama Cozzi’s pizza available at Aldi.

  • What makes Mama Cozzi pizzas stand out from other ready-to-heat pizzas, for example, is their unique flavor combination.

1. Stores often sell out of Mama Cozzi pizzas on Fridays.

We were previously told by an Aldi business representative that certain outlets sell out of pizzas by 6 p.m.on Friday evenings. You should definitely do your grocery shopping by Thursday at the very latest if you want to celebrate Pizza Friday with none other than Mama Cozzi herself.

  • (If you attempt to refute this idea, you will almost certainly wind yourself without pizza and disappointed!) Read more: You won’t be surprised to learn that Aldi sells out of one item on Friday nights.

Aldi’s famed Aldi Fan Favorites program, in which devoted customers nominate their absolute favorite goods in each category, is held every year in the supermarket chain.According to a study of more than 40,000 buyers conducted last year, Mama Cozzi’s Take-and-Bake Pepperoni Pizza was awarded the Fan Favorite. If this is the case for the second year in a row, we’ll find out in a few days when the findings of this year’s poll are made public, so stay tuned.

Why You Should Never Buy Pizza From Aldi

Shutterstock Aldi has a large number of admirers, and for good reason. Its business philosophy, which emphasizes efficiency, as well as its shop structure, products, and service, help the supermarket chain maintain a strong relationship with its long-term clients. The absence of frills allows Aldi to provide prices that are competitively cheap when compared to other stores, and grocery buyers are likely to return as a result of that.

  • However, despite the savings, Aldi’s items might occasionally be a miss when it comes to quality (after all, they can’t all be winners).
  • Frozen pizza from the discount grocery shop is an example of such a product.
  • Frozen pizza from the grocery store is a convenient grab-and-go alternative that you can quickly heat up in the oven for supper for you and your family.
  • However, no matter how inexpensive the pizza is, it is only worthwhile to purchase if it is also delicious.
  • Some people claim that Aldi’s frozen pizza is subpar, and this is supported by the evidence.

Aldi’s Mama Cozzi frozen pizza misses the mark

Shutterstock When it comes to store brand pizzas, Aldi’s Mama Cozzi pizzas under the private label are enticing to add to your basket since they cost a fraction of what you would ordinarily spend for to-go pizza from any restaurant chain or local pizzeria, at less than $3 per slice. The bottom line is that you get what you pay for.According to reports, the frozen pizza lacks flavor and has a limited number of toppings (via Showbiz Cheat Sheet).

  • Some buyers also dislike Aldi’s pizza crusts, which are available in two sizes.
  • When the original pizza crusts from the grocery store were evaluated, the ultimate conclusion was that they were ordinary and offered little to the whole pizza experience.
  • Because the crusts are so thin and boring, the only flavor you’ll receive will come from the toppings you use to dress them up.
  • Because the price of Aldi’s pizza is the primary selling point, rather than the quality of the product, it’s not surprising that Mama Cozzi has slipped under the radar when prominent publications have tasted and ranked their best frozen pizzas.
  • Delish, The Daily Meal, Good Housekeeping, Taste of Home, and The Kitchn are just a few of the publications that have reviewed frozen pizzas in the recent past.

None of them have included Aldi or Mama Cozzi in their lists of the best supermarkets.

Which options are better than pizza from Aldi?

Shutterstock Which supermarket shop has gotten great notice as a result of their delicious frozen pizza selection? The Whole Foods 365 Thin Crust Four Cheese Pizza was ranked ninth, and Trader Giotto’s (Trader Joe’s in-store pizza brand) was ranked third, according to The Daily Meal, out of 15 products examined. The Wegmans Bake & Rise Four Cheese Pizza and the Trader Giotto’s Pizza 4 Formaggi both received favorable reviews from The Kitchn, according to the publication.

  • As for taste, the Whole Foods 365 Everyday Value Thin Crust Pepperoni Pizza was the best of seven brands tested, according to Taste of Home magazine.
  • Final verdict: While the frozen pizza alternatives available at Aldi are reasonably priced and excellent, you’re better off purchasing your frozen pizza from another supermarket or ordering takeout from your favorite pizza joint.
  • After all, the sense of taste reigns supreme.

The Reason Aldi Shoppers Avoid Mama Cozzi’s Pizza

Photograph courtesy of Matthew Lloyd/Getty Images Without a question, the German grocery retailer Aldi enjoys a large and loyal customer base. For many customers, the store’s unparalleled mix of low pricing and high-quality items is too good to pass up.According to a Thrillist article, the most resourceful and seasoned Aldi shopper understands that traversing the store’s shelves is an art form that is best served by study and preparing ahead of time.

  • It’s important to be prepared when you’re walking along Aldi’s huge frozen food aisles, for instance.
  • The frozen foods section of the supermarket is stocked with a variety of options, including vegan meatballs, steaks, fajitas, scallops, ice cream sandwiches, veggie burgers, ravioli, and other dishes.
  • It should come as no surprise that certain items are unquestionably superior than others.
  • For example, a customer on Reddit expressed disappointment with Aldi’s buffalo frozen chicken nuggets, saying, ″They had so much breading I couldn’t even eat them.″ On that point, there is another frozen food item that you should avoid at all costs from time to time.
  • Aldi customers have expressed disappointment that the store’s Mama Cozzi’s pizza does not measure up to the expectations.

Here’s all you need to know about why this pizza is a popular, yet ultimately disappointing, find.

They lack flavor

As quick and simple as frozen pizzas are for lazy nights in, you want to be sure that you don’t wind up with a box of anything that doesn’t taste anything like what you had hoped for.The Mama Cozzi pizzas are popular among customers because of their low price (some are as low as $3, and some are even less), but some of them are lacking in the quality department, according to Cheatsheet, especially when you consider the fact that toppings are not abundant and the flavors are nothing to write home about, among other things. If you want to be on the safe side, you could choose for Aldi’s Take & Bake pizza variants instead, which are handy, taste like pizza, and aren’t too expensive to warrant a second look.

  • Even so, you could get fortunate with some of the tastes, but ultimately, everything is up to chance.
  • According to a recent Redditor’s post, ″Mama Cozzi’s pizzas are quite inconsistent in quality.
  • Today’s game was a dud.″ They went on to say that the crust, toppings, and sauce were all bland.
  • What is the dish’s redeeming feature?
  • The filling that is baked into the crust.

That’s something, at the very least.

Think Twice Before You Buy Pizza From Aldi

Sean Gallup is a photographer for Getty Images.Despite the fact that Aldi has a longstanding reputation for giving the finest discounts to its army of knowledgeable buyers, it is difficult to understand how the German supermarket has managed to take over the United States, Europe, and pretty much every country on the world.Aldi aficionados get together online to discuss their must-have goods, quick finds, and everything else in between.

  • Those in the know often receive even better prices than the general public, but when you see the famous orange, yellow, and blue sign, you know your wallet is in good hands no matter where you are.
  • Although Aldi is a one-stop shop for all of your family’s staples, from dairy products to household items, it is not your one-stop shop for all of your shopping needs.
  • As a matter of fact, there are a few things that you’d be better off purchasing elsewhere in order to save money and worry in the long (and short) run.
  • And, as dreadful as that may seem, one of those products may be a slice of cheese pizza.

Pizza from Aldi is reasonably priced

Shutterstock Take-and-bake pizzas from Aldi’s own brand, Mama Cozzi’s, are available with a range of various toppings, with The Kitchn stating that you can select from staples such as pepperoni, sausage, and five different cheese variations.Additionally, Aldi Finds, which are a little more unique and only available for a limited time (although they may be added to the rotation if they prove to be popular enough), are available. For example, the cheeseburger pizza is topped with mozzarella and cheddar cheese, hamburger patty crumbles, pickles, tomatoes, and onions, as well as a ketchup and mustard sauce, among other ingredients.

  • Aldi’s pizzas are relatively competitively priced, with sizes ranging from 12″ to 16″, with the most costly just costing little less than $7.
  • (their gourmet flatbreads).
  • However, as Cheat Sheet points out, you get what you pay for, with these pizzas being generally flavorless, with minimal toppings that aren’t impressing customers.

Pizza from Aldi doesn’t taste great

Blog at Shutterstock During an I Ate Oklahoma taste test, the team discovered that the combination of cheeses (mozzarella, provolone, Monterrey jack, Parmesan, and Romano) didn’t provide enough flavor to balance out the typical crust, and that the sauce was ″one note.″ In the same way, the sauce and cheeses did not work well with one another.Overall, the writer stated that Aldi’s pizza isn’t nearly as delicious as Little Caesars’ Hot-and-Ready pizza, which is also reasonably priced. This is confirmed by an Aldi Reviewer, who states that the ″new recipe″ is a significant improvement over the prior type, which was especially unpopular with Aldi buyers.

  • The sausage pizza was respectable, with the cheese and sausage praised as ″competent,″ and the dough was ″good,″ albeit not quite as flaky as you’d expect from a pizza of this caliber.
  • On the sausage pizza, a Reddit member complained that the crust was very thin, almost cracker-like, and that the toppings merely tasted like salt, while others agreed.
  • The pricing is the most important selling feature across the board, so if you’re primarily concerned with not paying too much, Mama Cozzi’s can be a good fit.
  • Aside from that, there are superior frozen pizzas available in supermarkets.

I Ate ALDI: Mama Cozzi’s Take & Bake Pizzas

My sentiments toward ALDI (or, as my father insists on referring to it, Al D’s) are almost platonic in nature. If, on the other hand, that German-based bargain store ever went down on one knee.I’m assuming you’d be reading Greg D’s restaurant reviews.

  • When it comes to food, I’ve evaluated upscale salsas, hot dogs, and smoked salmon in the past (as well as creating the far from comprehensive guide to buying at ALDI), but sometimes I just have to feed my kids and their friends simple foods, such as pizza.

Mama Cozzi’s Take & Bake Pizzas

I really enjoy the odd house brands that ALDI comes up with from time to time.Appleton Farms is a family-owned farm in Appleton, Wisconsin.Clancy’s.

  • And, of course, there’s Mama Cozzi’s, which is the most Italian of all names.
  • Even though you can buy a few shelf-stable Mama Cozzi’s products, the vast majority of this brand’s products are found in the freezer department.
  • (Try the Texas toast, which is both different from traditional Italian fare and extremely excellent.) However, in addition to the other deli goods, which are only partially chilled, you’ll discover a selection of take-and-bake pizzas in a variety of sizes, shapes, and topping combinations.
  • For the reason that I was feeding my children, I chose the extra-large Five Cheese pizza, which is made with mozzarella, provolone, monterrey jack, parmesan, and romano cheeses on a classic dough.
  • Given that I was also supplying myself with food, I also ordered an extra-large Mega Meat pizza with thin crust to go with it.

Despite the fact that Mega Meat is not a meat-heavy establishment, I love its combination of ″basic″ and ″premium″ meats—Italian sausage and pepperoni are provided, but salami, bacon, and beef offer some additional bulk and (particularly in the case of the salami) some more spice. When it comes to crust against crust, I have to go with the thin crust. It isn’t quite as thin as other thin crusts, but it was firm enough to hold all of the fillings and toppings in place. What’s more, the crust did its job by staying out of the way of the cheese, toppings, and sauce, which was vital.Perhaps this was the problem with the five-cheese pie: the combination of cheeses, while delicious, did not provide the significant diversion from the crust that was required.

My major criticism with most tomato sauces is that they lack depth, and the cheese lacked enough punch to provide much of a springboard off of which the sauce might bounce.I’ll admit that I charred the typical crust on the five-cheese pizza, but it was a fun experiment. While I think I should have gone for the top rack instead, the amount of time it took to get the cheese melted enough to be considered done meant that the crust was exposed for much too long after the oven had finished cooking the meat.

  1. Meanwhile, the thin crust, which was baked on the top rack, was perfectly done and delicious.
  2. Even when I folded up a piece of it, it had a nice crunch to it, but there was a some flex to it.
  3. (I enjoy take-and-bake pies, as one would expect from a genuine New Yorker.) The best part about ALDI pizzas, like with everything else at ALDI, is the low price point.
  4. The Five-Cheese Pizza will most likely cost you $5.50.
  5. I believe the Mega Meat was only a few cents more expensive.
  6. Perhaps $1.50.

The question is, ″Does it taste better than a Hot & Ready from Little Caesar’s?″ Both yes and no.While I’m sure I’ll eat a few pieces of Hot-and-Ready, it’s virtually my last option when it comes to mass market pizzas (albeit it still ranks way above of the worst pizza on the earth, Papa John’s).Furthermore, because they are rather large, you can feed a large number of people with them.

Alternatively, in my situation, I may simply gorge myself and keep my gluttony a secret from the rest of the world. With the exception of this place. On the World Wide Web.Although Mega Meat has a one-in-a-thousand-percent chance of returning home with me, the cheese has at most one more opportunity on the top shelf before I give up the ghost.

Mama Cozzi’s Original Thin Crust Pizza

Pizza is a popular item at Aldi. Some of the pizzas are Regular Buys that are available all year, while others are ALDI Finds that are only available for a limited time (Special Buys).Pizzas are available in a variety of formats, some of which are frozen, while others are fresh take-and-bake pizzas.

  • Several of the pizzas are geared for cauliflower enthusiasts, while others are centered around meat or filled crust.
  • Some of the pizzas are intended to be merely exotic in appearance.
  • Others, on the other hand, are intended to be your everyday pizza.
  • This one, for example.
  • Mama Cozzi’s Original Thin Crust Pizza is an Aldi Regular Buy, which means that it is available all year round at the supermarket.

Tombstone or Jack’s pizza is intended to be an Aldi knockoff of the original. We were able to get it for $2.19, which is significantly less expensive than almost any other pizza we’ve seen this side of a Totino’s.Because it is ″preservative free,″ the label makes a big deal about it, as does the fact that it is a ″new recipe,″ which may be in reaction to complaints that the old recipe wasn’t all that fantastic.(While we did not evaluate the previous recipe, we did attempt it and can attest that it was not particularly tasty.) Cooking it is exclusively an oven experience, unless you are one of those persons who like experimenting with different grilling methods and techniques.Once the oven has been preheated to 400 degrees, bake the pie for 13-16 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese in the middle has melted.

The instructions also state that you should allow the pizza to rest for 5 minutes before serving it, and that the internal temperature of the pizza should reach 165 degrees. This is the finished article.(Click on the image to expand it.) My husband and I had the sausage version of the pizza, and I thought it was very good.

  1. It had a good cheese and sausage filling, and the crust was adequate, albeit not nearly as flaky as some of its name-brand competitors’ offerings.
  2. But the new formula is a step forward in terms of quality.
  3. It’s a nutritional powerhouse, with plenty of calories, fat, salt, and carbohydrates to go around.
  4. Pizza in general isn’t good for you, and this particular pizza is no exception.
  5. Nutritional and culinary guidelines are provided.
  6. (Click on the image to expand it.)

The Verdict:

A reasonable — if not remarkable — pie, Mama Cozzi’s Original Thin Dough Pizza has good flavor and a good crust on top of a strong base of cheese. It’s not going to change the world, but it’s a tasty and inexpensive meal… and when we say inexpensive, we mean less than two bucks.
