School says assignment comparing pizza toppings ‘to sex’ was a mistake

A Connecticut school that has come under criticism for assigning eighth-graders a project in which they were asked to connect their favorite and least favorite pizza toppings to their sexual preferences has now admitted that the assignment was a’mistake.’ ‘Pizza and Consent’ was an assignment given to pupils at John F.Kennedy Middle School in Enfield recently, in which they were encouraged to relate their favorite pizza toppings to their favorite sex activities.According to the assignment, ‘we can use pizza as a metaphor for sex.’ It explains that when you order pizza with your pals, everyone checks in with each other’s preferences, right?’The same may be said about sex.’ The youngsters are then given an area in which they may name their favorite pizza toppings as well as their favorite sex activities, with the following instructions: ‘Here are some examples: The following are his favorite things: cheese, kissing, and olives, giving oral.’ The eighth-graders were also instructed to ‘draw and color your favorite variety of pizza’ once the metaphor had been successfully completed.

    • What is your favorite type of pizza to eat and why?
    • What are some of your favorite toppings?
    • What are some of your pizza pet peeves?
    • Take these preferences and apply them to your sexual inclinations.’ And ‘for those of you who don’t like for pizza or sex at all, feel free to substitute another culinary preference or add non-sexual activities in your submission.’ According to FOX News, the assignment was promptly removed from the Enfield School District’s website, and now district officials are claiming that it was sent out ‘by mistake’ Students were given this project, in which they were asked to compare and contrast their favorite sex activities with their favorite pizza ingredients.
    • Several parents rushed to social media in January to voice their dissatisfaction with the assignment, which was issued in January.
    • The video was posted to YouTube by a woman who only identified herself as ‘Amanda,’ who stated that if the Board of Education meeting on January 27 had taken place in person, she would have asked the following question: ‘Since when has it become acceptable for a teacher to ask a student what their sexual wants, desires, and boundaries are?’ The assignment, according to Jonathan Grande, was ‘crude and devoid of good taste,’ and Tracy Jarvis stated that it was causing children to become sexually active before their time during a subsequent board meeting held on Tuesday.
    • ‘Young people don’t even know how to negotiate platonic relationships, so why would they be expected to navigate sexual relationships?″ It was her conclusion that ‘we should not be pushing youngsters to examine each other’s bodies with several partners in an open atmosphere for whatever purpose’.
    • They should inform a competent adult who will then report it if someone is doing or urging them to do something inappropriate.
    • ‘I recognize the need of teaching children boundaries,’ Jarvis added.
    • The problem is that you are providing them with far more knowledge than they are mentally prepared to process at this point in time.
    • ‘ As a result, you open the door for them to have partners who are older than they are, increasing the likelihood of their being in a statutory scenario,’ she added.
    1. This has gone too far,’ she stated, adding that parents ″will battle for the purity and protection of our children.″ The event occurred at the John F.
    2. Kennedy Middle School in Enfield, Connecticut, and was captured on video.
    3. Amanda and other parents resorted to social media to voice their dissatisfaction with the assignment.

The assignment was handed out to middle school pupils in error, according to school officials.Even parents confirm that after the assignment was published, the district’s Health and Physical Education Coordinator wrote parents to apologize for the error.According to Parents Defending Education, ‘the wrong version of this assignment, as opposed to the amended version of this assignment, was unintentionally uploaded on our Grade 8 curriculum page, and was inadvertently utilized for teaching to Grade 8 Health courses,’ Brie Quartin stated.

Following our curriculum adjustment in June, I realized my mistake but neglected to upload the correct version.’I acknowledge my mistake and express my regret.’ In a statement released on Tuesday, Superintendent Christopher Drezek stated that the project was given to eighth-graders by ″mistake.″ It was her subsequent explanation as to why students would collaborate in small groups to ″build a pizza with toppings that would make everyone happy/comfortable using just nonverbal communication″ in the ‘proper version’ of the assignment.’ Afterwards, the students would be invited to’reflect on and analyze how ideas or sentiments might be unclear or misread when we rely solely on nonverbal cues/communication.’ Superintendent Christopher Drezek explained to parents at the school board meeting on Tuesday that the letter had been ‘inadvertently’ issued to eighth-graders.According to FOX News, he said that the incident was the result of a simple error.

‘And I am well aware that there are many who do not believe this. There are people who may not necessarily want that response, and I understand their position.’ According to him, ″in this specific circumstance, I didn’t even have a chance to react since the individual who made the error acted before I was even alerted that it had occurred.″ Afterwards, Drezek agreed with parents that the information was ‘inappropriate,’ but maintained that there was no ‘hidden goal.’ According to him, there was no secret conspiracy working to indoctrinate children with a certain ideology.’They sent the wrong piece of paper. And I’m not going to be the one to continue this tale on their behalf any longer.’ In the end, that’s what occurred, and none of us are happy that it happened,’ Drezek said to his parents, adding that ‘no one feels worse about what happened than the guy who did it.

    Directions

    • Checklist for Instructions Step 1: To make the dough, do the following: In a large mixing basin, combine the water, yeast, and sugar
    • set aside for 5 minutes or until the yeast has dissolved. Slowly incorporate the whole-wheat flour, bread flour (or all-purpose flour), and salt into the dough until it begins to hold its shape. Advertisement
    • Step 2Pour the dough out onto a lightly floured work area and knead it for a few minutes. Knead for about 10 minutes, or until the dough is smooth and elastic. (Alternatively, a food processor or a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook can be used to combine the ingredients.) To make a ball, process or combine the ingredients until they come together. To finish, process for another 1 minute on low speed in a food processor or 4 to 5 minutes on low speed in a stand mixer until the dough is smooth and elastic.) Place the dough in a lightly oiled mixing bowl and turn to coat the dough.
    • Using a clean dish towel, cover the bowl and set it aside in a warm, draft-free spot until it has doubled in size, about 1 hour.
    • Step 4Place a rack in the lowest third of the oven and preheat the oven to 450 degrees F. A big baking sheet should be brushed with oil. Cornmeal should be sprinkled onto a baking sheet to coat it evenly.
    • Step 5Combine the oil, garlic, salt, and pepper in a small bowl
    • Step 6Spread the flour over the work surface
    • Step 7Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Transfer the dough to a baking sheet by rolling it out to the size of the baking sheet (see Tips for further information). The oil mixture should be spread over the dough. Toss with tomatoes and olives, then top with a sprinkling of cheese. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and beginning to color on the edges. If you’re using basil, sprinkle it on top.

    Tips

Prepare through Step 2, cover the bowl with plastic wrap, and place it in the refrigerator for up to 1 day.Alternatively, securely wrap the unrisen dough in oiled plastic wrap and freeze for up to 3 months before using it.Allow the dough to defrost overnight in the refrigerator.

    1. Allow refrigerated (or previously frozen) Tips: Whole-wheat pastry flour is made by milling soft wheat into flour.
    2. Compared to conventional whole-wheat flour, it includes less gluten, which helps to produce a more soft outcome in delicate baked items while still giving the nutritious advantages of whole grains.
    3. It may be found in big supermarkets as well as natural food outlets.
    4. Keeping it in an airtight container in the freezer is recommended.
    1. You don’t have time to create your own dough?
    2. Look for pre-made whole-wheat pizza dough balls at your local supermarket, which can be purchased fresh or frozen and are free of hydrogenated oils.
    3. To Make a Pizza Dough Roll Out Turn out onto a lightly floured surface and continue to bake for another 15 minutes.
    4. Dust the surface with flour and use your fingertips to mold it into a thick, flattened round shape.

After that, form the dough into the appropriate shape using a rolling pin.If your dough ″resists″ being rolled out, allow it to rest for approximately 15 minutes before attempting to roll it out again a second time.Smarts when it comes to storage: Wrap your food in a layer of plastic wrap, followed by a layer of aluminum foil, if you plan to store it in the freezer for an extended period of time. The plastic will aid in preventing freezer burn, while the foil will aid in preventing off-odors from permeating the contents of the freezer.

When it comes to preparing pizza, I believe that keeping the toppings basic is one of the most important things you can do.A few of decent major toppings, some good cheese, and a tasty sauce round out the dish.Sauce: If you don’t have tomato sauce or aren’t a fan of the tomato foundation, I recommend cooking in olive oil with a touch of garlic for a flavorful sauce alternative.

    1. When topping the dish, use scallions, leeks, or roasted garlic for the onions if you want a similar flavor profile.
    2. For the olives, the acidic flavor is difficult to imitate, so I’ll substitute roasted red peppers or sun-dried tomatoes in place of the olives.
    3. Gluten-Free: It’s easy: just make sure you use a good gluten-free crust!

    Olives

First and foremost, we must examine the numerous varieties of olives available and their properties, as well as their general use, in order to determine the most effective way to include them into pizzas, pasta dishes, and antipasti. Then there’s the decision of whether to dig a hole or not. Some restaurants, for example, may provide a small plate of olives on the table for you to snack on while you peruse the menu or order a drink or a glass of wine, among other things.

    1. These olives are sometimes pitted, and sometimes they aren’t.
    2. Care should be taken while serving olives for this purpose: if you wish to offer them, do not combine pitted olives with olives that do not contain pits (if you plan to do so, check your insurance policy for dental coverage for patrons who break a tooth).
    3. GLOSSARY OF OLIVE TERMS While there are many more varieties of olives available, these are the ones that are most commonly used in restaurants around the United States.
    4. Also, take in mind that food costs vary widely; for example, there is a significant difference in price between the canned black ripe olive from California and the Gaeta from Italy.
    1. Moreover, olives that have been cured and combined with herbs tend to be more expensive (although the flavor is unbeatable).
    2. Type: canned black ripe olives in their natural state.
    3. California is the place of origin.
    4. Description: This is the olive that is most typically used as a topping for pizza.

These black olives are treated with a lye curing solution in order to remove the bitterness from the flesh.Following this stage of the curing process, the olives are subjected to a succession of water baths, which are followed by a procedure that gives the olives their stable color.Black ripe olives have a solid texture and a mild flavor that makes them a good choice for a snack.Available in a variety of forms, including pitted, whole, sliced, and chopped. This is a highly adaptable olive in terms of preparation.I use the sliced variety as a pizza topping, the entire kind (pitted) in salads as a component of caponata, and the plain variety for snacking.

    • Olives of the following varieties: green ripe, black, and sour.
    • The green ripe olive is similar to the black ripe olive, with the exception that it has not been exposed to air, allowing it to keep its original color.
    • Application: The black ripe olive may be used in the same way as the green olive.

On occasion, I’ll produce a mixture of black ripe and green ripe tomatoes to use as a topping for pizza or to use in caponata (a tomato sauce).Kalamata is the variety.Greece is the country of origin (varieties of this olive that are grown in California are spelled calamata). An eggplant-colored (shaded to black) olive with an almond form that has been brine-cured and cured in red wine vinegar.

A well-known favorite, this soft, meaty, fruity olive is a soft, meaty, delicious olive.Usage: This olive is more expensive than the black ripe olive, but if I had to choose between the two, I would use this olive on pizza since it has a deep, rich olive taste that holds up well under the high temperatures of the oven.If you’re looking for something to serve with feta cheese, Kalamatas are an excellent choice. They may also be used in a Greek appetizer, Greek pizza (see recipe), or Greek salad.Gaeta is the kind.

Italy is the country of origin (a town between Naples and Rome). Some variants are relatively weak, while others are highly potent.Description: (relative to the curing process).Dry-cured meats have a rich black hue and are very wrinkled. The olives that have been brine-cured have a smooth skin and have lost some of their color, giving them a violet hue.

A tumble with rosemary and other herbs is frequently applied to gaetas, which helps to enhance the overall flavor.Application: I really like this olive. When I cook with it, I include it into antipasti, salads, pasta dishes, and on fish.I would also use this olive to make a tapenade (olive spread) for crostini, which I think would be delicious. And when flavored with rosemary or other spices, it transforms into an unbeatable eating olive.Nicoise is the kind.

France is the country of origin.Detailed description: A little brown, green, and black olive (which is usually not pitted) that is very excellent.Usage: As a snack and as an essential component of a traditional salade Nicoise.Manzinilla is a kind of manzinilla (a.k.a.Queen).The origins of this item are Spain and California.
