Chicken Bryan

Grilled chicken breasts with a basil lemon butter sauce, sundried tomatoes, and creamy goat cheese are served over a bed of spinach.Carrabba’s personal fave!Carrabba’s and its famed chicken dishes are among our favorite restaurants. The use of bold flavors is one of my favorite things, and they produce some truly tasty dishes. It didn’t take me long to find a copycat recipe for Carrabba’s Chicken Bryan, and I couldn’t get it out of my head quick enough.Grilled chicken topped with a light and fresh lemon basil butter sauce, sun-dried tomatoes, and tangy goat cheese is the reason why Chicken Bryan is so well-known.

I’ve prepared this Chicken Bryan dish in two different ways: on the grill and in a cast-iron pan.In order to make dinner faster, fry the chicken in a pan instead of the oven.Simply grilling the chicken results in moist and flavorful grilled chicken breasts.I wanted to make sure that both methods would work with this recipe, and I can guarantee that both methods are very delectable!I prefer to use THIN chicken breasts for this recipe since they cook more quickly.

You may either purchase them already flattened from the grocery store or flatten the thickest section of the chicken yourself with a kitchen mallet. This aids in the even cooking of the chicken.

How to make Chicken Bryan at home:

  1. Make the Lemon Butter Basil Sauce first, and set it aside. In a saucepan, heat the butter and garlic over medium heat for 1 minute. Cooking garlic for an excessive amount of time can cause it to burn and turn bitter very fast. Cook for 5 minutes once you’ve added the lemon juice. Reduce the heat to LOW and gradually whisk in the heavy cream. The cream and lemon juice must be cooked over a low heat or else they would curdle together.
  2. While the sauce is simmering, it’s time to start preparing the chicken. If you’re grilling the chicken, start by preheating the grill to high heat. Extra-virgin olive oil should be rubbed into each chicken breast before seasoning generously with salt and pepper. While the oil helps to prevent the chicken from adhering to the grill, it also imparts a taste to the dish. If you have the luxury of time, marinate the chicken in the oil and spices for at least 30 minutes before cooking it. Grill the chicken for around 4-5 minutes per side, depending on how thick you like your chicken to be. If you are cooking the chicken in a pan, massage the oil, salt, and pepper into each chicken breast before placing it in the oven to bake until it is 165 degrees. Add to a skillet that has been heated to medium-high heat. Chicken should be cooked for approximately 4-5 minutes per side, depending on its thickness. It must attain a temperature of at least 165 degrees
  3. The goat cheese, marinated chopped sundried tomatoes, a good quantity of sauce, and fresh basil ribbons are placed on top of the chicken.

Carrabba’s Evolution is All About Customer Experience

  • According to Kappitt, the foundation is built on all of the company’s basic beliefs, which include homemade cooking and using only fresh ingredients. However, they are also, in principle, ideas that are held by every Italian restaurant in the country. Since its inception, Carrabba’s has promoted the concept of real Italian cuisine at a reasonable price. However, this frequently led in intricate and disruptive LTOs that were difficult to execute and were difficult—and expensive—to compete against in the market. The ideal has remained unchanged. Carrabba’s is just approaching the business in a more strategic and comprehensive manner than its smaller competitors. In recent quarters, it has placed a strong emphasis on ″healthy traffic,″ shifting away from offering large discounts in favor of greater execution of its core menu. Carrabba’s is focusing on expanding its exclusive programs and special events while also rebuilding its guest base through long-term differentiators such as excellent food and service, delivery, and other off-premises, family-oriented initiatives, among others. At the halfway point of 2018, the chain’s discounts has dropped by 37 percent year to date. Naturally, reducing the number of promotional events in a calendar will have a negative impact on traffic. Bloomin’ believes, as do all of its brands, including Bonefish and Fleming’s, that the long-term benefits will outweigh the short-term hardships they endure. Carrabba’s has been enduring a continuous grind for quite some time. After seeing a 3.8 percent fall in same-store sales in the first quarter of 2017, the business closed 14 locations. Take a look at how the image of comparable sales has changed over time: Q1 2019: 0.3 percent
  • Q4 2018: 0.8 percent
  • Q3 2018: –0.6 percent
  • Q2 2018: –0.6 percent
  • Q1 2018: 0.9 percent
  • Q4 2017: 1.3 percent
  • Q3 2017: –2.8 percent
  • Q2 2017: 0.4 percent
  • Q1 2017: –3.8 percent (closed 14 company stores)
  • Q4 2016: 1.3 percent
  • Q3 2016: –2.8 percent
  • Q1 2016: –3.8 percent (closed 14 company stores

According to Kappitt, one of the most significant developments is the proprietary notion. There are a few regular programs at Carrabba’s, such as Amore Monday (three-course meals starting at $12.99), Founders Favorites Tuesday (original items brought back), Pizza & Wine Wednesday (any wood-fired pizza for $9.99 and $10 off bottles of wine), Date Night Thursday (four-course dinners for $45), and Sangria Sunday (endless glasses for $12.99 with the purchase of an entrée).Carrabba’s monthly wine dinners, which take place on the third Tuesday of every month, are the gem in the crown, according to Kappitt. The initiative began on a local level some years ago and was subsequently expanded to include the entire country around four years ago.For $50, you may enjoy four dishes matched with four wines.According to Kappitt, the answer shows a critical point for Carrabba’s and other sit-down restaurants around the country: The definition of value is not always associated with a monetary worth.

Value is frequently defined as the price you pay for the experience you receive. The value for money evaluations for these themed events are among the greatest in Carrabba’s system, despite the fact that they are rather pricey in comparison.I believe it is mostly driven by the experience that we are providing,″ Kappitt asserts. He goes on to say that it’s difficult to realize how much the program has evolved in four years.Carrabba’s wine dinners grew from being a sporadic product to being a key element of the company’s revenue.

Internally, the team spends ″an enormous amount of time and energy thinking through themes, thinking through food and wine matching, and really putting our heart and soul into it,″ according to Kappitt.″We’re really pouring our heart and soul into it,″ he adds. The menu for a restaurant is known approximately a month in advance, according to the industry standard.Managing partners have plenty of time to train servers and ensure that they are well-versed in the options—particularly the wine—as well as why everything is appropriate. It also provides the opportunity for each restaurant’s owner to take the stage for an immersive event once a month. This contributes to the preservation of a sense of place.

″When it comes to meal delivery, we’re all fairly excellent,″ Kappitt says of his company’s competitors.″It is true that we make an effort to separate ourselves, but I believe that the thing that will truly make a difference in our performance moving ahead is the experience that we provide.″We hear it again and over again from our guests.″ Returning to the size benefit, Bloomin’ Brands’ Dine Rewards program has more than 8.5 million members, which is a significant number in the industry. To ensure that all companies receive the same amount of exposure, the organization has made it a practice to cross-fertilize offerings.

As an alternative to dividing them up, Bloomin’ tries to bring an Outback guest to Fleming’s, a Bonefish guest to Carrabba’s, and so on and so forth.Beyond the incentives, though, an 8.5 million visitor profile database represents a substantial resource for a 227-unit chain to draw upon. What it does, according to Kappitt, is provide Carrabba’s with the option to convey the appropriate message to the appropriate individuals at the appropriate moment. That may seem like a no-brainer, but it is a relatively new phenomena in the restaurant industry.Carrabba’s is only at the beginning of a long and winding road.According to Kappitt, ″we’re still discovering the potential of the data we’ve gathered.″ In fact, I’d say that even within the four concepts in which we’re involved, we’re probably at the forefront of providing visitors with more than simply a 50 percent off visit deal after they’ve visited us four times.

  • ″We’re attempting to provide them with experiences that are only available to Dine Rewards members.
  • Loyalty is directed in the direction of the later point in the sentence.
  • Members of the rewards program are segmented in a way that creates a VIP club of sorts.
  • It is a program that provides value in addition to a monetary and point-based system.
  • It encourages return visits via involvement and experiences, rather than through one-day barrages of information.
  • This is not only a good traffic generator, but it is also far less expensive on the back end.

Because of a shift away from mass marketing, Outback alone lowered advertising expenditures by $25 million last year alone. It also contributed to an increase in check volume, which increased by 4 percent in the first quarter.Carrabba’s had a Carnevale celebration on March 20th, which served as an example.A special event for Rewards members included Venetian masks, Aperol Spritz glasses, as well as festive food and beverages, such as Lamb Lollipops, at a cost of $40 per person.

There was a Feast of the Seven Fishes supper held two years ago.Carrabba’s knows how many active users are engaged with the brand because of Dine Rewards, according to Kappitt. It is also capable of listening to consumers.Carrabba’s evolution may be attributed in part to the fact that it has listened to its customers.Among the things that the company learnt is that it was taking too much away from customers in terms of portion quantity, according to Kappitt.

As a result, it increased the amount of chicken in pasta recipes by 50 percent. Two years ago, the business raised the amount of the wine pours available. The filet was given a boost. In certain meals, the shrimp and scallops are larger than before. This was made possible, adds Kappitt, by efforts to streamline processes over the previous three years, which allowed the adjustments to take place smoothly and efficiently. In terms of portion size, ″we basically simply went through a list of the items that were the top pain points for our visitors,″ he explains.

″We’ve been checking them off very systematically as we can afford to,″ he adds.″It’s resonating with people. We are seeing an increase in our value ratings as well as an increase in our portion size ratings.According to the guest, we are allocating our resources appropriately.″ Carrabba’s completed the installation of a new cooking line into its locations during the close of the previous fiscal year, which increased production.Kappitt describes it as a ″major″ step forward in terms of streamlining operations.

It was also the first significant modification to Carrabba’s kitchen since the restaurant’s inception. It decreased waste and saved money in areas where Carrabba’s could shift spending to guest-experience enhancements, such as portion size, which was previously mentioned in the update.Additionally, as Carrabba’s expands its activities outside of its current location, simplifying processes becomes increasingly important.

  1. During Bloomin’s fourth-quarter conference call, CEO Dave Deno stated that family packages, catering, and delivery platforms provide major incremental opportunities in 2019.
  2. Delivery is presently offered in more than 550 locations across the Outback and Carrabba’s restaurants brands.
  3. In the most recent quarter, off-premises sales accounted for 14 percent of overall sales for the two brands.
  4. ″I believe that delivery and large-party catering represent one of the most significant development potential for my company,″ adds Kappitt.

It’s partially due to the fact that Italian food travels well.It also fulfills a variety of functions in a world where the casual-dining category hasn’t seen much growth in traffic in recent years. You have to figure out how to take advantage of situations like this where there is a simple gravitational pull from the customer.″ And I believe we’re in a good position to do it,″ he continues.

Carrabba’s recently launched a campaign that, according to Kappitt, is well suited to the at-home trend.Customers may eat in and select any regularly priced entrée and then take home their choice of entrée, along with soup or salad, for just $10 during the Bring Homemade Home Event, which is only available for a short time. There must be an equivalent or smaller priced take-home option available, and it is not available with filet or ribeye. In addition, the guest must dine in.Carrabba’s tried the arrangement, according to Kappitt, and the results were positive.

  1. This is the first time it has been publicized and distributed throughout the whole system.
  2. ″It fosters the convenience and on-the-go mentality,″ he claims.
  3. ″We believe it will be a significant development in the category.″

Carrabba’s has been a real local restaurant in Houston for more than three decades. The Original Carrabba’s on Kirby Drive first opened its doors on December 26, 1986, with $500 in the cash register (a loan from Mr.C, Johnny’s father), 94 seats, seven barstools, and a menu whose most expensive item was a $9.95 T-bone steak and a glass of the best wine cost a whopping $2.25.

  1. Today, the restaurant is still family owned and operated.
  2. Following the first success of the restaurant – which Johnny has dubbed ″lightning in a bottle″ – a second site was opened near the intersection of Voss Road and Woodway Drive.
  3. At some point, the original Carrabba’s outgrew its 3,000 square feet of space and relocated to a newer, larger location.
  • With a seemingly modest premise – an Italian restaurant with a wood-burning pizza oven, large bowls of pasta, and an open kitchen – the restaurant would grow to become the focal point of Houston’s dining scene.
  • In spite of all of the transformations, some things have remained constant: our dedication to fantastic food, the warm, inviting, comfortable, family-oriented atmosphere that pervades our restaurants, mature servers who understand the importance of impressing and appreciating our guests, as well as a staff that enjoys their jobs and knows our customers by name.
  • Unlike some sophisticated cooking schools or business books, we don’t conduct our restaurants based on concepts gained in a classroom.
  • Their operation is founded on heart and soul, and we believe that our ultimate goal is to provide visitors with an experience that they will enjoy – and remember.
  • And that is exactly what we do.
  • Every single day.

Carrabba’s Menu: The Best and Worst Foods — Eat This Not That

Carrabba’s Italian Grill, which serves traditional Italian dishes with a Western twist, is a favorite family dinner and date-night destination around the country. There are a variety of delicious foods to taste at this restaurant business, ranging from pastas to an assortment of grilled meats and seafood. However, as is the case with most restaurants, it might be difficult to keep track of the quantity of butter, salt, cream, and other fats that go into making the dishes on the Carrabba’s menu so delectably delectably delectable.

  1. Using Lindsey Pine’s expertise (MS, RDN, CLT) we were able to decode the meals on the Carrabba’s menu in order to identify the best and least-healthy choices accessible to you.

Small Plates/Appetizers

250 calories, 16 g fat (9 g saturated fat, 0 g trans fat), 1,090 mg sodium, 6 g carbohydrate (2 g fiber, 3 g sugar), 22 g protein per serving. The grilled asparagus wrapped in prosciutto is a tiny plate, comparable in size to a side dish, that provides an enticing way to get more vegetables and protein into your dinner. While most of us don’t think about vegetables while eating out, Pine says this is a ″very wonderful way to get in some vegetables while also getting some protein from the prosciutto.″ It’s also a great option for anyone who wants to cut back on carbohydrates in their diet.

  1. 1,200 calories, 89 grams of fat (28 grams of saturated fat, 6 grams of trans fat), 3,390 milligrams of sodium, 72 grams of carbohydrates (8 grams of fiber, 14 grams of sugar), and 30 grams of protein Typically, appetizers are served to the entire table as a communal dish.
  2. In spite of this, the calamari served with two sumptuous sauces may easily exceed your daily nutritional requirements in a single meal, and that’s even before the main course is served.
  3. According to Pine, ″unless you’re planning on serving this appetizer to a large group of people, you should pass on this one.″ ″Not only does it have 1,200 calories, but it also has six grams of trans fat.
  • Trans fat should be avoided at all costs because it has been shown to raise LDL (bad) cholesterol, reduce HDL (good) cholesterol, and increase the risk of heart disease in people who consume it.
  • It is outrageous to watch a single meal contain six grams of trans fat.
  • The quantity of sodium in this product is equivalent to that of about 300 potato chips.″ Even when shared between friends, this trans-fat-laden appetizer should be avoided at all costs, especially if you wish to maintain a good blood cholesterol level.

Pizzas, Soups, and Salads

A serving contains 120 calories, 4.5 g fat (2.5 g saturated fat, zero g trans fat), 680 mg sodium, 16 g carbohydrate (five grams of fiber, zero grams of sugar), and five grams of protein.Soup is a versatile dish that may be served as a side dish, appetizer, or as a whole meal.Pine advises a cup of minestrone soup to start your dinner because it is a healthier and lighter alternative.

  1. According to her, the dish is low in calories, contains no sugar, and contains 5 grams of fiber, which helps you feel fuller for longer and consume less of your entrée.
  2. You can then take any leftovers home with you to eat another time.
  3. Win-win.
