1. Wendy’s

When Wendy’s established a location in Malaysia in 2008, I recall the entire country going crazy over the news.Turns out, the franchise really built its first shop in Malaysia in the 1980s.However, it did not survive long.Wendy’s opened its doors at Sunway Pyramid in 2008, and the company has since expanded to include numerous more locations around Malaysia.

However, in 2019, we witnessed the closure of its branches one by one.According to a tweet from @Twt Bajet, Berjaya has decided not to renew its franchise license.There are no Wendy’s restaurants in Malaysia at the present time.For the time being, at least.

2. Tutti Frutti

When Tutti Frutti, an American frozen yogurt business, launched its first outlet in Malaysia’s Sunway Pyramid in 2009, it became an instant hit.Despite its high rates, the business swiftly grew and eventually built 85 locations around the country….Several clients expressed their dissatisfaction with the quality of products and services in a forum.According to the information available, there is just one Tutti Frutti outlet left in Malaysia, and it is located in Bandar Bontanik in Klang.

3. Papa John’s

However, according to the company’s Facebook page, it has permanently closed its doors in Malaysia.A regular client of Papa John’s said that he had spoken with a member of the company’s employees, who indicated that the decision had been taken by the company’s upper management.

7. Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen

On January 1, 2009, Popeyes launched its first Malaysian location at Taman Tun Dr Ismail, which was the company’s first shop in the country.In the following months, more outlets sprung up around Malaysia, notably those at the Sunway Pyramid and Midvalley Megamall.Its Cajun burgers have received a lot of positive feedback.It is thought that all of the company’s stores throughout Malaysia, including the one at klia2, have subsequently permanently terminated their operations.

8. Yellow Cab Pizza Co

With a bright yellow signboard and motorbikes, it was difficult to miss Yellow Cab when it initially opened its doors along Jalan Raja Abdullah in 2008.In the following years, it established a number of locations, including those in Ampang Point Shopping Centre and Taipan, USJ, to mention a few.Due to financial difficulties, the company was unable to continue operations and was forced to close all of its shops in Malaysia permanently.However, it continues to operate stores in eight countries, including Singapore and Brunei.

Fun fact: Yellow Cab Pizza Co., which specializes in New York-style pizzas, was started in the Philippines with the goal of providing Filipinos with a taste of New York City.

In 1991, country musician Kenny Rogers and former Kentucky governor John Y.Brown Jr.came together to start the organization.In 1994, Brown sold the franchise to the Berjaya Group, which became known as the Berjaya Group.

Four years later, Berjaya Corp, a subsidiary of ROASTERS Asia Pacific, completed the acquisition of the chain’s parent company, NF Roasters, located in the United States.Despite the fact that there are still a number of stores distributed around Malaysia, some claim that the industry has changed significantly from its heyday.Apart from Malaysia, the restaurant has locations in a number of other countries as well.

13. Bubba Gump Shrimp Co

After nearly ten years in business in Malaysia, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.made the decision to permanently shutdown two of its locations at the Curve and Citta Mall in 2018.Later that year, the company announced that its Sunway Pyramid branch would be closing as well, causing fans to be devastated.It was popular with families and friends who came to dine on its trademark shrimp dishes and ribs during its peak.

The country of Malaysia does not yet have any active outlets.

14. 1901 Hot dogs

If you were a youngster growing up in the 1990s, you probably remember eating 1901 hot dogs anytime you wanted a fast snack.The Malaysian firm is still in business today, and it just announced the establishment of two kiosks in the city of Melaka this year, among other things.When Zakir and Tengku Rozidar Tengku Zainol Abidin founded their first chain in 1997, they named it 1901 after the year 1901, according to historical records of when the hot dog was originally developed.

15. Johnny Rockets

The Sweetwater Restaurant and Bar, the East End Bar and Grill, and The Corner Restaurant and Bar all opened before Clark’s Corner, which was the first to open in the space.Many people recall previous Shakey’s sites in the area, including 6429 Riverside Blvd., 3333 Balmoral Drive, 5640 Auburn Blvd., 7315 Fair Oaks Blvd.in Carmichael, and 5508 Watt Ave.in North Highlands, among others.Nonetheless, there was no Shakey’s location that possessed the same ambiance and sense of nostalgia as the East Sacramento one.

Andrew recalls Northwest Highway as the most popular of his father’s seven businesses, and it was the most profitable.″People would travel from all over the world,″ he explained.From Highland Park to Richardson, East Dallas and Lake Highlands are all represented.″ The majority of the Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights were crowded with people waiting in line.″ According to The News’ archives, the Northwest Highway store consistently ranked in the top four of 400 locations nationwide for seven years following its inception in 1989.By that time, a number of additional pizza businesses had sprung up in the surrounding neighborhood.In 1970, Stasio stated in an interview with The News: ″It makes no difference to us what the competition does.We just carry out our duties to the best of our abilities.″ According to The News’ archives, Stasio was selling more pizza at his seven Shakey’s locations than anybody else in the country four years after opening his first one.
