Overall

However, whereas many low-carb goods are missing in flavor, this one is very excellent! It serves a purpose other than simply serving as a vehicle for delectable toppings. In fact, I’d say it’s on par with the original dough in terms of taste. That is quite a feat for a high-fat, low-carbohydrate option.

Blaze Pizza just launched the first keto-diet-approved pizza crust to be served at a national chain. I tried it and was surprised by how good it was.

  • BlazePizza became the first national restaurant to announce the launch of an official keto-diet-approved pizza crust on July 15, according to the company.
  • A single slice of the new keto crust comprises three grams of carbs, compared to a single slice of the conventional crust, which includes 14 grams of carbohydrates.
  • My first stop was the Blaze Pizza on Staten Island, New York, to sample the new keto-approved crust, and I was pleasantly impressed by how closely it mimicked a traditional wheat flour crust.
  • More articles may be found on the Business Insider homepage.

Blaze Pizza became the first national brand to announce the launch of an official keto-approved pizzacrust on July 15, becoming the first national restaurant to do so.The ketogenic diet, which is high in fat and low in carbohydrates, is one of the most popular diets of our age.The keto diet entails substituting carb-heavy meals with high-fat and high protein alternatives, which means that pizza is typically off-limits for those following the protocol. But that’s no longer the case!

  • According to the Blazenutrition calculator, a slice of pizza made with standard dough has 14 grams of carbs per serving..
  • Blaze’s new keto crust contains only three grams of carbohydrates per slice, making it ideal for keto diets.
  • It may be used to replace flaxseeds, eggs, cheese, and other components with wheatflour.
  • More information may be found at: I had lunch at MOD Pizza, which is America’s fastest-growing restaurant chain, and witnessed firsthand why it is so far ahead of the competition.

My friend and I went to Blaze Pizza on Staten Island in New York to sample the keto crust, and we were both amazed by how close it was to a traditional carb-filled crust:

My first surprise was that the keto crust is pre-baked. In contrast, the classic crust traverses the assembly line as raw dough before it meets the oven.

Its stiff texture gave me pause. It was like a frisbee of baked dough-like composite.

Like every outsider with radical new ideas, the keto crust was to be subjected to trial by fire.

Featured image courtesy of Irene Jiang of Business Insider More information may be found at: I just dined at Texas Roadhouse for the first time, and it lived up to all of the expectations.

The crust had a slight crisp around the edges, but my pizza was, overall, slightly undercooked.

Maybe I’d simply gone a little overboard with the cheese. I popped a lactose pill and dove right in.

The keto crust felt like any other crust in my hand. It held together remarkably well.

Image courtesy of the source Irene Jiang of Business Insider contributed to this article.

It was perhaps slightly less crispy than a flour crust, but otherwise successfully mimicked the texture and feel of a flour crust.

The texture was slightly grittier than flour dough, and it didn’t quite have the same chew factor. However, it was close enough. There was also a vague cauliflower aftertaste, but it wasn’t distracting.

I was surprised by how well the keto crust functioned as a pizza crust. It held together stunningly well, and the texture was similar enough to that of a wheat crust that it could have fooled me if I’d gone in blind. Even though I’m a die-hard carb stan and will still probably get a classic crust next time, Blaze’s keto crust is a game changer for pizza fans on the keto diet.

Blaze Pizza Keto Crust Review 2022

Starting a ketogenic diet isn’t nearly as difficult as it used to be, due to the increasing number of chain restaurants that are offering low-carb alternatives on their menus. As the ketogenic diet grows in popularity, it’s no surprise that Blaze Pizza has introduced a new keto crust for those who are watching their carb intake. Before you rush out the door with your vehicle keys and wallet in hand, it’s a good idea to understand what goes into the Blaze keto crust in the first place. For additional low-carb choices while on the road, check out our guide to keto fast food and takeaway.

  • The ingredients are reviewed to ensure that there are no secret carbohydrates hiding in the dough, and a taste test is performed in the video below to determine whether or not it is worth your time and money.

Need to Know Before You Go

Unlike your standard cheese crust or fathead dough, which are rich in fat and have nearly no carbohydrates, this dough is packed in protein and fiber.Cooked cauliflower rice, low-moisture mozzarella cheese, casein protein, flaxseed meal and eggs are used to make the keto crust at Blaze.Other ingredients include yeast, spices and cultured brown rice. You may already have most of these components in your home, which is usually something to check for when getting takeout.

  • Alternatively, you may buy online.
  • It appears like everything are going well, but let’s clear up a few details and get you ready for your pizza delivery.

Cultured Brown Rice? Is That Keto Friendly?

There have been many keto dieters who have steered clear of recipes when they saw the terms ″rice flour″ or ″brown rice″ in ingredient lists, but this isn’t always necessary. While rice isn’t very keto-friendly, it’s important to remember that ketosis is a metabolic state that needs you to consume less than 20-50 grams of carbs each day.It makes no difference if your carbohydrates come from spinach or brown rice; they all have the same effect on ketosis.Carry out the same calculations as you would for any other meal when calculating the carbohydrates in the Blaze keto crust.

  • Some dairy products benefit from the addition of cultivated brown rice to their shelf life.
  • Tips from the pros: You may use indications to figure out how much of a particular component is actually utilized in the crust.
  • Brown rice, for example, is mentioned after yeast and spices on the ingredients list of a recipe.
  • In other words, there is less brown rice present than there is yeast, which is most likely not much in the first place.

Watch Out for High-Carb Toppings

The keto crust is only available in an 11-inch size and has 5g of net carbohydrates per pizza crust, but that’s before you add any sauce, meat, or vegetables to your pizza. The Spicy Red Sauce, Mozzarella, Bacon, Cherry Tomatoes, Mushrooms, and Spinach are all automatically included with the Keto Pizza when you order it.Assuming all of the toppings are included in the total carb count, you’re looking at 15g of net carbohydrates. If you want to reduce carbs even more, request no tomatoes or no vegetables at all.

Carbs in Toppings

  • Customization is always a possibility if you want to express yourself creatively with your purchase. To see how many carbohydrates are in each Blaze topping for an 11-inch pizza, look at the table below: The following ingredients have 0-1g carbs each: Artichoke: 0g carbs
  • Kalamata Olives: 0g carbs
  • Red Onion: 0g carbs
  • Spinach: 0g carbs
  • Roasted Butternut Squash: 1g carbs
  • Mushrooms: 0g carbs
  • Arugula: 0g carbs
  • Grilled Chicken: 0g carbs
  • Banana Peppers: 0g carb

Gluten-Friendly

The crust is gluten-free, which isn’t usually the case with keto-friendly foods and beverages. We must emphasize that gluten-free does not imply carb-free! You and your stomach may be confident that a few pieces of pizza on a Friday night will not ruin your evening.

Only Available in 11- Inch Size

  • The keto Blaze pizza is only available in the personal size, so if you want to serve the whole family, you’ll have to buy numerous pizzas or consider cooking your own from scratch instead of buying pre-made. The following are some of our favorite low-carb pizza recipes that you and your family should try. The Original Zero-Carb Pizza Crust

Macros for Blaze Keto Pizza

An full 11-inch Keto Pizza has 910 calories, 50 grams of fat, 83 grams of protein, 25 grams of total carbohydrates, and 10 grams of fiber. So go ahead and enjoy the entire pie on your own or freeze half of it for later use as a leftover. Make the decisions that are best for you and your macros (or your appetite).

What We Ordered

The Standard Keto Pizza: When you begin your online order and pick the keto pizza, the following options are immediately shown.Don’t assume that these are the only possibilities open to you. There are a variety of others as well.Feel free to customize your dish by adding or removing toppings as you see fit.

  • Alternatively, you may stick to the more keto-friendly pizza toppings that we discussed previously in this blog post.
  • Our Blaze Keto Pizza Order consists of the following ingredients: When we placed our order, we made a few minor tweaks to the regular keto pizza.
  • With the tomato sauce replaced with Garlic Pesto, the dish was a hit!
  • We also included grilled chicken and customized the vegetables to our preferences.

We decided on black olives, red onion, and cherry tomatoes as our toppings.

How did it taste?

Was it a good substitute for a high-carb pizza, or did it fall short? No, that’s not exactly right. It was, on the other hand, a really nice alternative.Overall, the tastes were not as robust as they would be on a traditional pizza.

  • The blandness of the crust, I believe, was the cause of this.
  • If I had to give it a rating, I’d give it a seven out of ten.
  • I would definitely go back and buy it again, however the flavor of a handmade keto pizza is superior to that of the Blaze Keto Pizza in my opinion.
  • Some of the changes we would make for the next time we purchase would be to switch up the types of cheese we use.

We would use a stronger tasting cheese in place of the crust because the crust does not provide much flavor. The garlic pesto was excellent, and we will have it again in the future. We would also add a few extra toppings, like as pepperoni and arugula, to make it a complete meal!

  • Each 11-inch pizza has 14 grams of net carbohydrates.
  • While you might be able to get away with eating one slice of pizza, while you’re on the keto diet, every gram counts.
  • Simply ordering the keto crust and assembling a high-protein pizza is the best option.

️ Toppings

In terms of the toppings, you have to be careful about what you put on your keto pizza since it might be harmful to your health.

Vegetables

Any of the veggies will have a low carbohydrate content.Spinach, black olives, red onions, green bell peppers, and mushrooms are some of my favorite toppings to include on my keto pizza. It’s important to pile up on the vegetables since it makes the meal more satisfying. The only vegetables that I would keep an eye on are the cherry tomatoes, especially if you want to use tomato sauce as the foundation for the keto crust.

  • Otherwise, everything else should be fine.

Fruit

Blaze Pizza also has pineapple on its menu, which I know seems strange at first. In moderation, you may use pineapple in your keto-friendly pizza, but don’t pile on too many slices. Pineapple has a significant amount of carbohydrates and natural sugar. It also depends on how diligent you are with your low-carbohydrate eating plan.

Cheese

  • Make it your own by including any sort of cheese that you like! There are several high-fat, low-carbohydrate choices available, and this is one among them. Blaze Pizza offers a range of various styles of pizza, including: Feta, goat cheese, Parmesan, ricotta, low-moisture mozzarella cheese, shredded vegan cheese, and a variety of other cheeses

Protein

  • And, last but not least, meats, meats, meats! Listed below is a nutritional analysis of the meats that you may use to make your low-fat, high-protein pizza. Cooked chicken breasts have 0g net carbohydrates, whereas Italian meatballs have 1g net carbs, Italian sausage has 0g net carbs, pepperoni has 0g net carbs, and salami has 0g net carbs.  Finishes

  • After your pizza has been taken out of the brick oven, you can request that they put some finishing touches to the top. Here is a list of the final toppings they have available, as well as how many carbohydrates they include. Frank’s red hot sauce has no carbohydrates, and the balsamic glaze has one. The BBQ drizzle has one carb, and the buffalo sauce has zero carbs. The arugula has no carbs, and the balsamic glaze and BBQ drizzle both have one carb each.
  • Pesto has 0g of net carbohydrates.
  • 0g net carbohydrates in olive oil
  • 0g net carbs in ranch dressing

Sauces

  • Did you know that you don’t have to use red sauce to make a keto-friendly pizza crust? You have a number of alternatives! Four different varieties of sauce are available for use on your pizza. Choose one that best suits your taste. Here’s what they should be eating in terms of nutrients. Classic red sauce contains 1g net carbohydrates
  • spicy red sauce contains 1g net carbs
  • white cream sauce contains 0g net carbs
  • garlic pesto sauce contains 0g net carbs
  • white cream sauce contains 0g net carbs
  • white cream sauce contains 0g net carbs

Salads

Simple salads with a variety of dressings are available, much as at other fast food establishments.Because their salad selection varies depending on the season and region, it is practically hard for me to compile a comprehensive list of the salads they provide. When ordering a salad, request that the dressing be served on the side and that there be no croutons. Some salads may include fresh fruit, quinoa, or other forms of seasonal vegetables in addition to the usual greens.

  • Just make sure you order a salad that is created with low-carb components to avoid carb overload!

Drinks

  • Water will always be the most beneficial beverage to consume. If you’re looking for something different, these are the low-carb beverage alternatives available at Blaze Pizza. Diet lemonade, unsweetened iced tea, and Coke zero are all good options.

Ordering tips

Here are my best recommendations for ordering from Blaze Pizza while adhering to the ketogenic diet.

1. Build your own pizza.

The following are my best recommendations on how to order from Blaze Pizza while following a ketogenic eating plan.

2. Do not order dessert.

Unfortunately, they do not provide any sweets that are keto-friendly. Just stay away from them, and you’ll be OK.

3. Do not order dough knots.

The menu does not include any keto-friendly sweets, which is a disappointment. To keep yourself safe, just avoid them.

4. Avoid alcohol.

Despite the fact that it is OK to consume a small amount of alcohol while on the keto diet, they exclusively sell beer and wine. Beer has much too many carbohydrates, while wine contains sugar. As a result, it is advisable to simply avoid them altogether.

Perhaps any of these low-carb pizza recipes will tempt your taste buds after reading this post about dining at Blaze Pizza. They are all quick and tasty, and they taste exactly like the dishes you would order at a restaurant! The Zucchini Pizza Bites are extra cheesy and topped with tangy black olives. The Gluten-Free Coconut Flour Pizza Crust is simple to assemble and top with your favorite sugar-free sauce and toppings. The Bacon Ranch Keto Chicken Crust Pizza is a fun twist on a popular pizza restaurant favorite. The Low-Carb Pizza Casserole is gluten-free, keto-friendly, and only has 3g net carbs per slice.
