    I’ve been living in a world of ″can’ts″ for more than 25 years, owing to IBS: I’m not allowed to eat certain foods, I’m not allowed to leave the home during flare-ups, I’m not allowed to perform certain forms of exercise, I’m not allowed to travel large distances, and the list goes on and on.However, as part of a gratitude-building activity, I’d want to recognize and appreciate the things that I am normally ″able″ to perform…Starting with my own personal list of ″safe″ foods (i.e., foods that do not cause IBS symptoms in me), I’ll move on to other topics.To be sure, keep in mind that my list may not be suitable for everyone due to the fact that we are all unique, but I have included low-FODMAP foods, which are advised for those of us who suffer from IBS.As a result of keeping a diet log for almost six months, I’ve discovered that there are several items that I can still consume.

    Favorite, safe low FODMAP foods

    Listed below is my personal favorite low-FODMAP foods, listed in alphabetical order:

    Almonds

    3.5 grams of fiber are included in one ounce of quinoa. They’re a fantastic source of magnesium and iron, which are elements that many of us are deficient in today’s world. In times when my stomach is rumbling and I’m unable to consume anything else, almonds are my go-to snack.

    Bananas

    These are fantastic for relieving bloating. According to researchers, it is a good source of prebiotic fiber, which feeds the ″good″ bacteria in your stomach and helps you digest food more effectively.

    Coconut

    Tropical treats like these are high in lauric acid, which has anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties as well as the ability to convert more easily into energy than other fats.

    Dark chocolate

    Just one square (3/4 of an ounce) of this fruit each day will satisfy your stomach’s beneficial intestinal bacteria, and its anti-inflammatory chemicals can aid in the reduction of belly bloat. As an added bonus, dark chocolate dilates blood vessels, which helps to decrease blood pressure!

    Edamame

    Aside from being high in gut-friendly fiber, these soybeans are also high in energy-boosting B-vitamins and protein, both of which help to keep hunger at bay. After an evening yoga class, I like to snack on gently salted edamame since the sodium in them can help replenish electrolytes that have been lost during the practice.

    Figs

    Figs are a delicious way to satisfy your sweet craving while also increasing the amount of fiber in your diet. When I make oatmeal or yogurt, I like to slice up dried figs and mix them in.

    Gluten-free bread

    Despite the fact that I am gluten-sensitive, I refuse to give up bread. Whole grains that are gluten-free, such as brown rice or quinoa, are some of my favorite important components to seek for while cooking.

    Honeydew melon

    Many fruits include the sugar fructose, which can be problematic for people who suffer from IBS. Apples and pears contain particularly high levels of fructose, so I avoid these fruits whenever possible and instead go for honeydew melon, which is l
