Set aside while you prepare the sauce. STEP 4Combine all of the ingredients for the tomato sauce in a large mixing bowl
    • season with salt, pepper, and a touch of sugar, if desired
    • and thoroughly combine the ingredients. Step 5: Divide the dough into two or four pieces (depending on whether you want to create large or little pizzas), form each piece into a ball, then flatten each piece out as thinly as you can with a rolling pin or your hands. Set aside until required. Make sure the dough is properly sprinkled with flour to prevent it from sticking together when baking. Place a pizza foundation on a baking sheet dusted with flour, then sprinkle 4-5 tablespoons of the tomato sauce on top, followed by some sliced tomatoes and grated vegan cheese. Repeat the process with another pizza base. Allow 10-12 minutes in the oven on top of your prepared baking dish, or until the base is puffed up, the vegan cheese has melted and the vegan cheese has bubbled and become golden in spots.
    • STEP 6Repeat the process with the remaining dough and topping. Sprinkle vegan parmesan on top of the pizzas just after they’ve been baked and garnish with fresh basil leaves or chilli oil if desired.

    • 2 tablespoons each dried or fresh basil, oregano, and garlic powder

    • 1/2 cup each red, green, and orange bell pepper (loosely chopped)
    • 1/3 cup red onion (chopped)
    • 1 cup button mushrooms (chopped)


    • 1-quart can tomato sauce* (organic whenever feasible)
    • 1/2 teaspoon each dried or fresh basil, oregano, garlic powder, and granulated sugar
    • 1 15-ounce can tomato sauce* (organic whenever possible)
    • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt (adjust to taste)
    • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit (218 degrees Celsius), with a rack in the centre of the oven.
    • Heat a big skillet over medium heat until it is hot. Once the pan is heated, add 1 tablespoon olive oil (amount as specified in the original recipe / modify if the batch size is changing), the onion, and the peppers. Season with salt and herbs, then mix well. Cook for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are tender and slightly browned, adding the mushrooms in the last few minutes.     • Prepare the sauce by combining the tomato sauce and spices in a mixing dish, then seasoning with salt to taste. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Make a mental note to put it away. Take note that if you are using tomato paste, you need thin it with water until you achieve the proper consistency.
    • To make vegan parmesan, first blitz raw cashews, sea salt, nutritional yeast, and garlic powder in a food processor until they are the consistency of fine meal (if you haven’t done so before). Transfer to a jar and store in the refrigerator to keep it fresh
    • Roll out the dough onto a floured surface and move to a circular baking sheet lined with parchment paper. In order to get the crust to crisp correctly, you’ll want to put the pizza directly into the oven WITHOUT the parchment paper. Any round object will do because it’s not going into the oven (I use a wood board for this).
    • Add desired quantity of tomato sauce (you’ll have leftovers, which you can keep in a jar for later use), a sprinkle of parmesan cheese, and the sautéed vegetables on top
    • serve immediately.
    • Making use of a baking sheet, carefully move the pizza (WITHOUT the paper below) onto the oven rack. Because of the parchment, it will be less likely to fall through the crack.
    • Alternatively, bake for 17-20 minutes, until crisp and golden brown.
    • Sprinkle the remaining parmesan cheese, dried oregano, and red pepper flakes on top of the dish. Leftovers stay nicely, and there is no need to reheat them! It’s delicious to eat cold pizza.

    • Making your own pizza is a great way to save money and, more importantly, you have complete control over the materials you use.
    • Making my own pizza is one of the primary reasons I enjoy doing so since it allows me to utilize my favorite shredded vegan cheeses, which are now Violife and 365 (Whole Foods’ house brand).
    • There are a couple pizza businesses around me that provide vegan cheese, but they use Daiya, which isn’t my favorite brand of dairy alternative cheese.
    • Good pizza toppings are essential, but the dough itself is equally as crucial!

    How to Make Pizza Dough

    This vegan pizza dough recipe yields one 12-inch thick crust pizza or one thin-crust 16-inch pizza when made with whole wheat flour.It takes only a few minutes to prepare, but it needs to rest for an hour before serving.I’ve tried all of the no-rise, 5-minute pizza dough recipes out there, and to be honest, they’re just not as tasty as the real thing.They have a chewy texture and are difficult to roll out.

    • It’s well worth the one-hour wait!
    • First and foremost, we must ensure that the yeast is still alive by proofing it.
    • Warm water, yeast, and sugar are carefully mixed together in a large mixing dish.
    • Check to see that the water is not too hot.
    • The yeast will be killed by hot water.

    Some experts believe the water should be between 105 and 110 degrees Fahrenheit, while others believe it should be between 80 and 90 degrees.To be quite honest, I don’t use a kitchen thermometer; instead, I use my finger to check the temperature.However, if you are unsure, using a thermometer is your best chance for determining the temperature.If the yeast begins to froth after 5-10 minutes, it is ready to use.Is there no foam?

    It’s time to go out and get some fresh yeast.After that, add the olive oil and salt and mix well.Olive oil lends a pleasant taste to the dish, but avocado oil or other vegetable oils will also do the job.We will be utilizing all-purpose white flour for our flour needs.

    • (I haven’t tried this recipe with gluten-free flour yet, but do let me know how it comes out if you do!) Add the flour a cup at a time, mixing well after each addition.
    • For my pizza dough, I use a stand mixer, but you can also make it by hand if you like.
    • Knead the dough until all of the flour is completely integrated.
    1. The dough should be sticky, but it should still be able to form a cohesive ball when pressed.
    2. If the dough is too sticky, add a small amount of flour at a time until it is manageable.
    3. For the next 5 minutes, knead the dough vigorously.
    4. Prepare a big mixing basin with oil and lay the ball of dough in it.
    5. Cover the basin with a cloth and let it aside for an hour, or until the dough has doubled in size, before using.
    6. My preferred method of allowing pizza dough to rise is in the oven with only the oven light turned on.

    Then inform everyone in the home that the oven should not be turned on.After the dough has been allowed to rise, put some flour onto your counter or work surface to prevent sticking.This will assist in preventing the dough from sticking together.You might also use parchment paper as an alternative.In order to deflate the dough, punch it down with your hands and knead it until it forms a smooth ball.

    One dough ball will provide a 12-inch pizza with a thick crust.Alternatively, you may divide the dough in half to make two 12-inch thin crust pizzas.We’re now ready to put it into action!If extra flour is required, sprinkle it over the counter.

    Roll out the dough with a rolling pin until it is the proper size for the pizza pan you are using.I’d be lying if I claimed that my dough ever resembled a perfect circle, but do your hardest to make it as even as possible as you roll it out.Place a small amount of flour on your pizza pan before placing the dough on it.Work it until it is flush with the edges.Poke holes in the dough by brushing it with oil and poking it with a fork to generate air pockets.You know those huge bubbles that might occasionally appear on a pizza?

    1. Poking holes will allow air to escape and prevent this from happening.
    2. Pre-bake the pizza dough for about 5-7 minutes, or until the bottom is just starting to become golden brown on the bottom edge of the pan.
    3. You’re looking for something with a little pop of color.
    4. Remove the pizza from the oven and brush the crust with vegan butter.
    5. This will assist in making the crust a little more crispy.
    6. Toss in your sauce, cheese, vegetables, and any other toppings that you enjoy.

    Replacing the pizza in the oven and cooking it until the crust is completely golden brown, the cheese is melted, and the toppings are soft is the best way to finish it.Please keep in mind that if you are not using a 12-inch pizza pan, the cooking time will vary.

    Can You Prep Pizza Dough Ahead of Time?

    It is entirely possible to prepare the pizza dough ahead of time.Immediately after creating the dough (following all of the recipe stages until it is time to roll it out), cover it in parchment paper and then plastic wrap, or keep it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.Pizza dough can also be frozen for later use.Allow it to defrost in the refrigerator overnight so that it will be ready for supper the following day.

    • Here are some suggestions for defrosting frozen pizza dough as rapidly as possible.

    Adding Flavor to Pizza Dough

    Given that this is a basic vegan pizza dough recipe, you may customize it by adding your favorite ingredients to give it a little extra taste, or you can just leave it as is.Garlic powder (about 1 teaspoon) and dried basil (approximately 12 teaspoons) are two of my favorite seasonings to use.Other herbs to consider are marjoram, rosemary, and oregano.I used marinara sauce, 365 Plant-Based Mozzarella shredded cheese, chickpeas, zucchini, red and green bell peppers, red onion, and 365 Plant-Based Mozzarella shredded cheese to create the pizza seen above.

    • After I finished cooking it, I garnished it with fresh basil and a bit vegan parmesan from Follow Your Heart’s vegan cheese.
    • The food was very wonderful!

    For Making Pizza

    • 1 to 2 tablespoons olive oil – to brush on the crust before pre-baking.
    • 1-2 tablespoons vegan butter (melted) – to brush on the crust after pre-baking it
    • Toppers for your favorite pizza pie

    The Dough

    • Combine the warm water, yeast, and sugar in a large mixing bowl. Allow for 10 minutes of activation time
    • the mixture should turn frothy. If the mixture does not froth, it is possible that the yeast is too old or that the water was too hot.
    • Add the oil and salt and mix well.
    • 12 cup flour at a time should be added
    • Knead the dough (either by hand or with a dough hook in a stand mixer) until it comes together into a cohesive ball. The sticky residue should remain, but you should be able to pick up the entire thing in one piece. To make it less sticky, add 1-2 tablespoons of flour at a time until it comes together
    • if it’s still too sticky, add more flour until it comes together.
    • Continue kneading for another 5 minutes.
    • Place the ball of dough in a large oiled mixing basin and set aside. Cover with a cloth and let aside in a warm place for 1 hour, or until the dough has doubled in volume. I baked my dough in the oven with only the oven light on while it rose.
    • Preheat the oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit (be careful to take the dough out of the oven if you’ve left it to rise in there).
    • Make a hole in the dough and knead it a couple of times until it becomes smooth and more solid. You may now store the dough in the freezer or refrigerator until you’re ready to use it. Alternatively, you might prepare a pizza.

    For Making Pizza

    • On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough. Make use of your pizza pan as a measuring tool (this recipe makes one 12-inch thick-crust pizza.)
    • Sprinkle a sprinkle or two of flour on the pizza pan before transferring the dough to the pan and baking it. Work the dough to fit the edges of the container.
