Grilling food refers to the process of cooking meat or other foods on a grill over an open flame. Indirect heat is used to cook food that is barbecued, which means that the meat or food is not in direct contact with the flame or heat source, but is instead maintained in a closed atmosphere where it cooks at a lower temperature and at a slower rate than food that is grilled. When selecting a barbecue or BBQ, it is important to consider the following features: Combined grill and indirect cooking rack surface area. You will be able to cook more food at the same time if you increase the surface area of the grill and add any more cooking racks.

    • Temperature control is provided. When using a charcoal-fueled grill, the lid should be tightly secured, and dampers should be installed to allow heat to be released. To be able to produce two unique temperature zones on a propane-fueled barbecue, the grill needs have at least two burners.

How To Cook A Pizza On A Blackstone Griddle

Do you possess a Blackstone griddle and are you pleased with it? Has the question arisen as to whether or not a Blackstone griddle can be used to make a pizza? Yes, it is possible to cook a pizza on a Blackstone – and it produces a delicious pizza! Are you interested in finding out how to utilize your Blackstone as a pizza oven? Take a look at my suggestions below!

How To Make Pizza On The Griddle Surface

A lot of people are doubtful that you can genuinely cook a pizza on a griddle since it is different from an oven because of the difference in size. However, the truth is that you can cook a pizza on a griddle surface if you want to.The most essential thing to remember is to pour enough oil on the griddle to prevent the bottom of your pizza from sticking or burning. However, as the owner of a Blackstone, I’m assuming that you’ve already seasoned the appliance to the point where you don’t have to worry about food clinging to it.Now, I’m going to assume that you’re cooking a pizza from scratch rather than utilizing a frozen pizza, so the steps that I’ll be providing you will reflect that assumption.

Step 1: Make Your Pizza Dough

You are free to carry on as you normally would. It was simple to create the dough in my Oster bread machine, since I simply followed the directions for 2 lbs of pizza dough. If you don’t have time to wait for the dough to rise or prove, you may continue on to the next stage.

Step 2: Pre-cook any veggies or meats

In the event that you’re cooking a pizza with anything like ground beef, go ahead and cook the meat on your griddle. The same is true for any vegetables that you wish to include on your pizza as well.Prepare the vegetables by chopping them and then cooking them on the Blackstone to soften them.Once all of them have been cooked, I recommend dumping them into a large mixing basin and laying them aside.Keep in mind to wipe the griddle thoroughly once the cooking is over.

Step 3: Put the pizza dough on the griddle

As a last step, take the completed dough and toss/roll it into the appropriate shape/size.Griddle it over medium to medium-high heat until it is puffed and shaped as desired.Make sure to close the lid on your Blackstone so that the dough can cook and develop into the ideal pizza crust base.Keep an eye on the underside of the crust to ensure that it does not get overcooked.Once I’ve determined that it’s reached a satisfactory amount of doneness, I like to flip it over and crisp up the other side as well.

This should only take around 10 to 15 minutes in total, depending on how thick of a crust you have on the griddle to begin with.

    Step 4: Add your toppings

Now, spread your sauce over the pizza crust and top with your additional toppings before baking it. After that, close the hood to allow the cheese to become melty and delicious. Because the other toppings have already been prepared, the only thing left to do is melt the cheese.

Step 5: Remove from griddle and enjoy

You may take the pizza from the Blackstone griddle and slice it up to serve as soon as the cheese is perfectly melted. In addition, be ready to savor some very delicious pizza prepared on the Blackstone.

Did Blackstone Discontinue The Pizza Oven?

If you are familiar with the Blackstone brand, you may recall that they used to offer a pizza oven that was branded with the Blackstone brand name. And if you’ve been on the search for one, you may have realized that you are unable to locate a replacement for your old one. This is due to the fact that the Blackstone pizza oven has been phased out by the company.Despite the fact that I’ve never used the Blackstone pizza oven, I’m very satisfied with the results I receive when I make a pizza on the stove top griddle. And who knows, maybe that’s why they gave up on it and ceased producing it altogether.

    Recipe Idea: Pizza!

It is one of life’s great joys to make and eat pizza outside in the fresh air. When you bite into a properly cooked pie with a crackling bottom crust and aromatic tomato sauce still bubbling on top, you are experiencing food that is as close to perfection as it is possible to achieve anyplace in the world. When you consider that creating your own pizza is less expensive, tastes far better, and can be prepared considerably more quickly than ordering from a restaurant or having it delivered, the comparison is clearly in favor of the homemade kind.A frequent assumption is that preparing pizza at home needs to be messy and difficult – let’s shatter that myth together today, shall we?The notion that making outside pizza is more of a ‘method’ than it is a recipe in the classic (list-of-ingredients) sense will be introduced first.

This is due to the fact that pizza itself comprises a variety of sauces, doughs, and toppings to choose from. The manner in which each should be cooked is the topic of heated debate, and every pizza enthusiast has his or her preferred method. In this video, we demonstrate how to cook pizza on a stainless steel Little Griddle brand outdoor griddle; however, you are free to choose what goes on it.That being said, cooking directly on the grill is an established way for cooking pizza outside, albeit it does present some obstacles………………………………………………….

Pizza dough is floppy and mushy by nature, and by stretching it out and slapping wet toppings on top, those characteristics are accentuated.Although it is not recommended to place huge, floppy items on a blazing hot grill grate, this is where the griddle shines as the greatest conceivable piece of equipment for creating excellent outdoor pizza…………………………….You may prepare the pizza directly on the griddle and then transfer it to the grill, avoiding the need to slide the pizza straight onto the grates, which is why Little Griddle outdoor griddles create such great pizza. There’s no mess, no spill – simply perfectly cooked outside pizza each and every time.In order to begin, you must first pick the components, beginning with freshly made pizza dough.Making your own dough is not difficult, but in this case we enlisted the help of a local store to do the task for us.

One pound of dough will serve around four people. In place of the sauce, we used roughly eight ounces of pre-cooked tomato sauce from our local grocer’s refrigerator case, and for the cheese, we used six ounces of a pre-mixed ″four-cheese″ mixture consisting of Parmesan, Asiago, Fontina, and Provolone cheese.Whenever we top our salads, we keep it basic, and in this case, we used four ounces of dry-cured American prosciutto-style ham and a few leaves of freshly chopped arugula.

In addition, we drizzled a good quality extra-virgin olive oil over the top to provide moisture and flavor. As you can see, it is ready to grill when it looks like this: The following is the recipe for this pizza: Start by preheating your grill to medium-high heat (about 375 degrees). For this recipe, the most important step is to heat the grill just hot enough to cook through the top of the pizza but not so hot that the bottom burns before the top is done.

    1. 2.
    2. While your grill is preheating, prepare your griddle by making sure it is completely clean before using.
    3. Extra virgin olive oil should be generously applied on the griddle heating surface.
    4. 3.
    5. Using greased hands, pick up your ball of freshly made dough and set it in the center of the oiled griddle or pan.
    6. To make a round or rectangular pizza shape, push the dough out with your fingers until it has a regular thickness and a uniform shape.

The thickness of the dough should be between 1/8″ and 1/4″ in thickness.Using the prepared dough, drop dollops of sauce onto the dough surface and spread to coat the dough with a thin, even coating of tomato sauce.5.Scatter half of the cheese equally over the pie, followed by the prosciutto and arugula.6.On top of the toppings, sprinkle the remaining cheese.

    1. 6.
    2. Place the griddle on the pre-heated grill and cook until golden brown.
    3. Lift the hood, set the griddle in the center of the grill area, and close the cover of the barbecue.
    4. Allow the pizza to cook at 350-400 degrees for 10 minutes without being disturbed, and then check the pizza every two minutes after that.
    5. In about 15 minutes, the cheese should be melted and bubbling, and the bottom of the pizza should be a uniform brown hue on both sides.
    6. Using a metal grill spatula with a wide blade, carefully raise and slide your pizza from the griddle to a wooden cutting board that has been prepared ahead of time.
    • Allow the pizza to cool for a few minutes before cutting into it.
    • Don’t be alarmed if your pizza crust adheres to the griddle top.
    • To remove the pizza off the griddle, gently press the spatula into an edge between the bottom crust and the griddle surface and slide it around beneath the pie to remove any sticky places before lifting the pizza off the griddle.
    • It works because starting with a cold griddle allows the top of the pizza to have a head start on cooking over the bottom, which is the exception to our regular suggestion to always warm our griddle before to cooking.
    • Our experience has shown that a stainless steel griddle performs even better than a pizza stone when it comes to creating a crispy bottom crust with a delectable, chewy top crust.
    • Why?
    • Heat from the grill melts the cheese and bakes the top, while the griddle gradually warms up over the grill, producing an excellent crispy bottom crust while the comparatively moderate heat maintains the top gently toasted and chewy.
    • Essentially, the griddle transforms into the greatest ″pizza steel″ on the planet.
    • How wonderful is this crust, by the way?
    • You can make a decision based on the following: As you can see, the bottom of the pie is well browned and crispy, the centre has risen wonderfully, and the top is melted and delectably delectable.
    • The greatest thing is that this gourmet pizza only took 1/2 hour to prepare from start to finish, at a cost of around $10.
    • It was delicious, and now since we’re hungry again, we’re heading to make another batch.
    1. We strongly advise you to purchase a griddle and construct one yourself!
    2. A backyard BBQ grill with a Little Griddle griddle allow anybody to wow their friends and family on any night of the week, no matter what the occasion.

    My Blackstone Pizza Oven

    • I got no money for writing this post
    • all thoughts are my own, and I only wish to share my experience with you. However, should you choose to shop through my Amazon store by clicking on the ″resources tab,″ I will get a tiny portion of each transaction. Greetings, everyone! It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything on my little bloggie. I’ve still been cooking, baking, and addressing pizza inquiries, but I haven’t been publishing as often as I would have liked for a variety of reasons. But I’m hoping to get back into a more regular schedule soon after. In this piece, the big news is my favorite Christmas present this year: Oh yesssss! This is something that a pizza dork like me gets really happy about. I have my own own pizza oven! What an intriguing prospect! However, the fact that it is far less expensive than most pizza ovens, that it is somewhat portable (in the same manner that any propane-fired BBQ on wheels would be), and that it cooks a pizza in 90 seconds is even more intriguing. Yes, you read that correctly: NINETY, as in one and a half minutes. That is not a misprint
    • it just takes me ten minutes to get it ready.
    • And here’s how it’s accomplished: I made the dough using my favorite New York pizza dough recipe, which can be found HERE. I also used Caputo’s Chef’s 00 flour to make a delicious Neopolitan pizza, which turned out well. Supposedly, this is the same flour used at Caputo’s Pizzeria, which is processed particularly for baking at temperatures above 700 degrees Fahrenheit. Although I followed the typical procedure, I made the mistake of mistakenly leaving the dough out for a couple of hours after kneading and combining it. After mixing, I normally divide the dough into balls and place them immediately into plastic containers. In the following days, I store the dough balls in the refrigerator for 1–3 days. The dough was excellent as always, but it was lighter and more in the form of a Neopolitan pizza. Neopolitan pizzas have a scorched bottom and a lighter and fluffier crust around the edge of the crust. To make this pizza, I used 7-11 ground tomatoes (Stanislaus) and covered it with chunks of fresh mozzarella (but not too much, otherwise your pizza would be runny!). The only item that was lacking was fresh basil, but sadly, it was not in season for fresh basil at the time, and so I was out of it. Here are some further images of my work: Finally, here’s a photo of my oven, which is now stored in my garage for the winter and has the appearance of a BBQ: My recommendations for utilizing the Blackstone are as follows: Preheat the Blackstone oven for at least 10 minutes before you begin cooking. On your pizza oven, turn on the stone-rotating mechanism to ensure that the stone warms evenly and adjust the flame-regulating dial to around the 4-o’clock position to get the perfect temperature that browns both the top and bottom of the pizza fairly equally.
    • Work on using a pizza peel since I’m not sure how you’d get the pizza into this if you didn’t use one (and it’s not difficult
    • if I can do it, anybody can!). Just be sure to flour it well). Try using rice flour to flour your pizza peel instead of ordinary flour or semolina because it doesn’t burn nearly as much as regular flour and semolina.
    • When baking, using an IR (infrared) temperature gun can assist you in understanding baking temperatures and ensuring that the stone is appropriately heated (this is not strictly essential, but it is interesting to use)
    • According to what I understand, the temperature gauge on the device measures the temperature of the air inside the unit rather than the temperature of the stones. Within 10 minutes, my stones reach an amazing 800 and 900 degrees Fahrenheit.

It has come to my attention that there has been considerable uncertainty surrounding this matter in recent years, which I believe is mostly due to Blackstone themselves. It’s been a while since Blackstone stopped their pizza oven, and folks have been questioning if they can safely cook pizza on their Blackstone griddle since then.Fortunately, I have some knowledge and expertise in this area, and I can share what I’ve learned with you so that you can decide whether or not you want to cook a pizza on your Blackstone griddle.

How To Make Pizza On The Griddle

First and foremost, let me to reassure you.Yes, you can certainly cook a pizza on a Blackstone griddle, and you won’t have any problems doing so if you follow the instructions in this section.I believe the majority of people are wary of it because they are concerned that it will harm the griddle top in some manner, or that the pizza base will adhere to the griddle.Do not be concerned; if your griddle has been properly seasoned to guarantee that it is non-stick, you will not encounter any of these issues when cooking. So you’ve learned that you can create a pizza on a griddle, and you’re probably wondering how to go about doing it.

Fortunately, you’re in luck, since I’ve got the ideal solution for that, as well! The first piece of advice I’d give you is to make it yourself. The greatest method to make a pizza on a Blackstone is with homemade dough, which is very delectable. You’ll be able to customize your pizza with toppings and extras that you truly enjoy.

Before you start assembling your pizza, I’d recommend browning any meat and softening any veggies on your Blackstone before assembling it.This will simply aid in the cooking of the pizza since the pizza base will function as a barrier between the meat and toppings and the hot griddle surface while the pizza is being cooked. As a result, prepare your toppings first.Having said that, your Blackstone will quickly cook your base and melt your cheese, so there is no need to be concerned about that.Everything after that is just a matter of putting together the perfect pizza.Basically, whatever you want to put on a pizza foundation that’s been topped with pizza sauce and cheese will suffice until the following stage is completed.

Your griddle should still be hot once you’ve finished grilling the toppings, so simply transfer your pizza to the griddle top and cook it there. You may use the cover on your griddle to create an oven-like atmosphere for your pizza to cook in if you have one.If you don’t have a lid, seek for a large enough cover that is safe to use on high heat and lay it over the top of your pizza to keep it from burning.

However, depending on the thickness of the foundation and the outside temperature, I’d estimate that most pizzas will take between 10 and 15 minutes to cook, depending on the size of the pie.Take note of the crisp, thin pizza base and melted cheese to determine whether or not your pizza is ready to be served.

Did Blackstone Discontinue The Pizza Oven?

As previously stated in the introduction, Blackstone did indeed discontinue its pizza oven, and they did so for a variety of reasons. As an example, one argument I can think of is that it is feasible to cook a whole pizza on their griddle tops without the need of a pizza oven, thus it is likely that they did not consider it to be a required product to create – especially given how well they currently do griddles. And that notion ties in well with one of the primary reasons I believe Blackstone abandoned their pizza oven project.

Although they produced amazing griddles, they also produced pizza ovens that were far inferior to those produced by competitors. The Blackstone pizza oven was a tough device to operate since there was just not enough room within it to efficiently cook food.Because of the crowded conditions, if you wanted to dine at the same time, you’d have to prepare numerous dishes ahead of time, which was just not feasible for me or any other client, in my opinion. Also on the internet, I’ve come across some reports that their pizza ovens were causing a high degree of demand for customer support, raising the possibility that the devices themselves weren’t really dependable at all. It’s important to remember that those are only tips from consumers who experienced issues with their Blackstone pizza oven.

Whatever the case, Blackstone stopped its pizza oven almost three years ago and hasn’t provided a substitute device since then, according to the company. So, what can you buy if you don’t want to make pizza on your griddle since it’s too much trouble?

A Better Option For Backyard Pizza Cooking

If you’re searching for a pizza oven for your backyard, Ooni is the way to go!In fact, when people discuss the discontinuance of the Blackstone pizza oven online, they nearly always refer to Ooni being a far superior alternative as one of the reasons Blackstone switched their focus away from pizza ovens and into griddles. The nice thing about Ooni as a firm is their ability to adapt to a variety of situations.

It is possible to purchase pizza ovens that are gas-powered, wood-fired, or even multi-fuel, allowing you to cook with any of the three fuels of your choice: wood, charcoal, or gas. They are available in a variety of sizes ranging from 12 inches to 16 inches, allowing you to select the one that is most appropriate for you and your average party size. They can easily achieve temperatures of 950 degrees Fahrenheit, allowing you to cook a pizza in 60 seconds. It’s impossible to go wrong with an Ooni product if you’re looking for a large, quickly heating, and functional outdoor pizza cooking choice. When it comes to pizza ovens, I’ve always thought of Ooni as a business that creates dependable goods, and I’ve never personally encountered anybody who has experienced any difficulties with their pizza oven after purchasing one from Ooni.

The mobility of an Oonipizza oven, on the other hand, is the feature that appeals to me the most.Cooking pizza outside with friends is one of the things I enjoy most about outdoor pizza cooking, and with an Ooni, you can absolutely do just that.Simple to transport, you will be able to relax back and enjoy delicious, steaming hot pizzas in no time no matter where you may be traveling to.

Griddle Accessories You WILL ACTUALLY NEED

    • When it comes to griddling, I recommend that you check out these accessories since they will save you a lot of problems and a lot of greasy laundry in the long run. This is yet another significant one. While your griddle is ready to use out of the box, it is lacking some very basic materials that you will require. Griddle Spade and Spatula: These are the tools that griddle chefs use all around the globe to prepare their meals. Griddle spatulas and spades with a metal surface are required due to the flat-top design of a griddle and its flat-top design. Something as basic as this works perfectly
    • you can find it here on Amazon.
    • Griddle Hood: This is a much greater matter than many people realize at first glance. A high-quality griddle hood can help you cook more effectively by managing heat and producing a ″oven,″ as well as by preventing your griddle cover from coming into contact with your griddle surface, which may be filthy or extremely hot, as described above. Something like this, which you can find on Amazon, is excellent.
    • The griddle cover was something I didn’t realize I needed, either. The fact that they were able to minimize unneeded wear and tear from the elements when they were being stored in my back yard was something I discovered very shortly after. It’s a little investment that will pay off handsomely in the long run. Something like this would be ideal for us here at Amazon
    • For more information, see Step 4 above. Infrared Temperature Gun: As mentioned above, these are extremely important to fully understand what your griddle can do and which areas are putting out the heat you require, and which areas can simply be used to keep the food warm while working on other things. Take a look at this wonderful choice that won’t break the bank, which is available on Amazon
    • Tins of Grease:
    • These are extremely inexpensive, and they will save you a lot of time and aggravation when it comes to cleanup. After that, simply dump them into the grease trap and throw them when you’re through! Check out these products on Amazon.
    • Griddle Bottles: These are another must-have, and you only need two of them. One for the water and another for the frying oil of your choice. If you are unsure of what I am referring about, please see our Guide to Griddle Bottles here. These on Amazon are excellent and reasonably priced
    • you can learn more about them here.
    • The Griddle King Apron is made of 100% cotton.
    • I get what you’re thinking: ″I’m not wearing an apron,″ and I agree with you completely. Then I grabbed a skillet and discovered how much grease was dripping off the surface of the skillet and onto my clothes. That was the turning point in my life. Fortunately, a simple apron may address this problem, and my distinctive ″Griddle King″ or ″Griddle Queen″ apron is a cheap and simple solution for you
    • you can get it here on Etsy.
    • As previously said, just switching out your 1lb propane bottle with a larger 5lb or 20lb propane bottle will save the planet and your travels to find a camping propane bottle every hour. You can get one here on Amazon

How To Make Pizza On The Griddle Surface

A lot of people are doubtful that you can genuinely cook a pizza on a griddle since it is different from an oven because of the difference in size. However, the reality is that you can cook a pizza on a griddle surface if you want to.The most essential thing to remember is to pour enough oil on the griddle to prevent the bottom of your pizza from sticking or burning.

The same is true for any vegetables that you wish to include on your pizza as well.Prepare the vegetables by chopping them and then cooking them on the Blackstone to soften them.

Once all of them have been cooked, I recommend dumping them into a large mixing basin and laying them aside.Keep in mind to wipe the griddle thoroughly once the cooking is over.

Step 3: Put the pizza dough on the griddle

As a last step, take the completed dough and toss/roll it into the appropriate shape/size.Griddle it over medium to medium-high heat until it is puffed and shaped as desired.Make sure to close the lid on your Blackstone so that the dough can cook and develop into the ideal pizza crust base.

Keep an eye on the underside of the crust to ensure that it does not get overcooked.Once I’ve determined that it’s reached a satisfactory amount of doneness, I like to flip it over and crisp up the other side as well.

This is due to the fact that the Blackstone pizza oven has been phased out by the firm.

Despite the fact that I’ve never used the Blackstone pizza oven, I’m very satisfied with the results I receive when I make a pizza on the stove top griddle. And who knows, maybe that’s why they gave up on it and ceased producing it altogether.picture courtesy of Reddit
