When you can keep yourself from swallowing the entire ball long enough to distribute it over a pizza dough and bake it in the oven, you’ll have the most incredible pizza pie ever. This burrata pizza is a combination of recipe and state of mind.I’ve included some of my favorite toppings, which you may use or leave out as you see fit.You may bake it with a tomato-based pizza sauce, as we generally do, or you can substitute burrata for the mozzarella and make a pesto burrata pizza.Alternatively, don’t make a decision.

Burrata is now readily accessible throughout the United States, even in grocery stores, which is great news for those of us who love cheese. It’s even available at our local Wisconsin retailers. If you don’t find it at your local shop, inquire!.

It’s possible that if they don’t have it right away, the demands will encourage more widespread distribution.I used to only see burrata at restaurants in major cities (my first burrata pizza was in Los Angeles), and I would order it whenever I had the chance. Now I see it everywhere. Now, I continue to buy it whenever the occasion presents itself, and I like being able to readily purchase burrata at the grocery so that I may create my own burrata pizza at home.

How to Make Whole Burrata Pizza

There are just three ingredients required for this pizza (four, if you count the salt we add to ours). Once you’ve obtained the burrata cheese, it’s a piece of cake to stretch the dough, cover it with the cheese, and bake it.

    The Core Ingredients

    • Burrata. The main attraction of the pie. We can get it at our local grocery shop, which is convenient for us. Do you have a strong desire to succeed? Food and Wine has a recipe for homemade burrata that I’ve bookmarked for a future lazy Sunday
    • Pizza Dough has a recipe for homemade burrata that I’ve bookmarked for a future lazy Sunday. You may either create your own pizza dough (our fave is this easy and forgiving homemade Whole Wheat Pizza Dough) or purchase pre-made refrigerated pizza dough. Many supermarket stores, including Trader Joe’s, now sell pre-made pizza dough, which was previously unavailable. Because it has a weird dough on the inside and stiff on the outside texture and lackluster flavor, I don’t recommend using the canned pizza dough that you’ll find next to the canned biscuits and cinnamon rolls. It’s a far cry from the blistered, chewy crust that we’re after
    • instead, use homemade pizza dough. It is necessary to use store-bought tomato sauce (I have attempted to make it from scratch previously and concluded that it was not worth the effort). Substitute Kosher salt for pesto sauce on a burrata pizza for a pesto burrata pizza. Before baking, add a tiny amount of sugar on top. It contributes to the enhancement of the flavor of the burrata.

At this stage, any additional toppings are entirely optional. Here are a handful that I find very inspiring.

    Burrata Pizza Topping Ideas

    • Cherry Tomatoes with a touch of basil. Classic Caprese inspiration that will never fail you. To prevent the cherry tomatoes from becoming too mushy, cut them in half lengthwise. Fresh basil should be added AFTER the pizza has been baked in order to retain its taste
    • prosciutto and arugula are also recommended. Add both ingredients on the pizza in the final minute of baking, or wait until the pie has finished baking completely before scattering them on top. a pinch of red pepper flakes (I like to let the prosciutto come to room temperature first when I use this method)
    • the warmth of the pizza will warm it up a little bit. The Balsamic Glaze adds a bit of spice to the burrata pizza, making it even more addicting. Roasted Garlic with a thin drizzle will make you feel like a gourmet chef
    • Roasted Garlic. A few cloves of roasted garlic will enhance the flavor of this pizza and give it a great, rich flavor. Immediately after sprinkling the pizza sauce on top, spread the roasted garlic pieces on top of the pizza in an even layer. When preparing garlic for roasting, begin by removing any loose skin from the garlic head and slicing approximately 1/2 inch off of the top to expose some of the cloves. Place the garlic head in the center of a sheet of aluminum foil and wrap the foil around it. Season with salt and pepper, then sprinkle with a small amount of olive oil if desired. Fold the sides of the aluminum foil up and over the top of the garlic head to create a neat package of garlic. Place the package in a small baking dish and bake for 15 minutes. Roast the cloves at 400 degrees Fahrenheit until they are totally tender (about 1 hour). Remove from the oven and allow it cool fully. Make a squishy paste out of the garlic cloves and distribute it over the pizza

    The Directions

    1. Start by preheating your oven to 500 degrees Fahrenheit (high temperatures equal great crust! ), then placing your pizza stone in the lowest third of the oven
    2. A huge piece of parchment paper should be laid out to serve as a work area. Coat the parchment paper with nonstick spray, set the dough in the center, then cover the top of the pizza dough ball with nonstick spray as well.
    3. Take your dough and roll it out into a circle with your rolling pin (about 10 inches). It is not necessary for it to be flawless.
    4. Using a second sheet of parchment paper, cover the circle with a rolling pin and continue rolling the dough until it is approximately 11 1/2 inches in diameter. The second layer of parchment will make things much easier for you and your rolling pin.
    5. Remove the parchment paper off the top of the dough and lightly sprinkle it with flour to prevent sticking. Additionally, coat your pizza peel with all-purpose flour before transferring your dough to it using the parchment paper (parchment paper side up). Discard the remainder of the parchment paper, and then spread the delicious pizza sauce all over the pizza dough (leaving a bit of space for a crust). Then, distribute the cherry tomatoes on top in a uniform layer (or other topping of your choice). Wait until after you’ve added the burrata. That section will be released shortly
    6. Exit the oven with care while holding your pizza stone (it will be VERY hot, so use caution.) Slide the dough onto the pizza stone with care, and bake for 10 minutes at 500 degrees F.
    7. Remove the pizza from the oven and scatter the beautiful, creamy burrata over the top of the pie to serve (no judgement if you sneak a few bites). Place the pizza back in the oven for 3 to 4 more minutes, or until the cheese is melted. At this stage, the burrata should be melted and bubbling hot.
    8. Transform the pizza onto a cutting board and top with more seasonings and fresh basil, if you so wish. Cut your pizza into pieces and place them on a serving platter. Take a deep breath and prepare to be immersed in melted cheese splendor

Tips for the Best Homemade Pizza

    • Don’t go overboard with the toppings. A slew of toppings will weigh down the dough, resulting in a crowded flavor in the finished pizza dish. Why do most pizzas in Italy contain only one or two toppings, including the cheese? There’s a good explanation for this. Take a cue from the people who invented it and practise moderation
    • Preheat the oven to a high temperature. I preheat my oven to 500 degrees Fahrenheit in order to replicate the original Neapolitan wood ovens, which can reach temperatures of more than 900 degrees Fahrenheit.
    • Make use of a pizza stone. If you plan to cook handmade pizza on a regular basis—or if you find yourself making frozen pizza or reheating delivery pizza on a semi-regular basis—a pizza stone (such as this one, which I’ve used for more than eight years) is absolutely worth the investment. This one is less priced and has received excellent feedback). I can definitely tell a difference. It makes the bottom of the crust just crispy enough to support the toppings without making it crunchy to the point of being burned. If you don’t have a pizza stone, you may make this burrata pizza recipe on a baking sheet if you don’t have one.
    • Preheat your pizza stone to 350 degrees. This will result in the crispiest and best-tasting crust possible. Preheat your oven to 350°F and place your stone in the middle of the oven for at least 30 minutes (purists will say an hour, but even 30 minutes makes a difference). Bake in the lower third of your oven for best results. This aids in the crisping of the bottom of the crust. In order to get more blistered toppings, I bake my pizza on the center rack or shift it to the upper third during its final few minutes of baking.

What To Do if Your Pizza Sticks to the Peel (and What to Do if You Don’t Have a Peel)

    • As a result, I should definitely invest on a pizza peel. Because I don’t yet have a pizza peel, I’ve come up with a workaround for baking handmade pizza without one. Instead of using a pizza peel, you may use the back of a flat baking sheet to put the pizza dough onto the stone (but avoid using a textured baking sheet like this one, since the dough will not come off as easily)
    • If your dough is sticking to the baking sheet and is refusing to slide off, DO NOT FORCE IT TO MOVE. You will not be victorious. Instead, bake it for a few minutes on a baking pan in the oven. Once the bottom of the dough has firmed up, transfer the pizza from the baking sheet to the pizza stone to continue baking it there.

In addition to being a little pushy (again). I do have a pizza stone, and I believe it is more important than a pizza peel for creating the ideal handmade pizza. If you only have the option of purchasing a peel or a stone, I’d recommend the stone.

What to Serve with Burrata Pizza

    • Homemade pizza, such as the one in this recipe, is a delight. Pair the burrata pizza with a big salad or sautéed vegetables to increase the nutritional value of the dish. Because you’ll be using the oven for the pizza, any vegetable that can be prepared outside of the oven is excellent. Here are a couple of my personal favorites: Sautéed Zucchini and Cabbage
    • Anytime Arugula Salad
    • Caesar Shaved Brussels Sprouts Salad
    • Grilled Chicken Breast
    • Grilled Salmon
    • Grilled Chicken Breast
    • Write yourself a love note, then prepare yourself a Burrata Pizza as soon as possible! Pizza dough (either homemade whole wheat pizza dough or store-bought pizza dough)
    • 2 cups halved cherry tomatoes or grape tomatoes
    • 12 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
    • 1/8 teaspoon red pepper flakes plus more to taste (optional)
    • 8 ounces burrata cheese
    • 1/8 teaspoon red pepper flakes plus additional to taste (optional)
    • Flaky sea salt, such as Maldon or fleur de sel, in a pinch
    • Oven racks should be placed in the lower third and higher third of the oven, respectively. Preheat your oven to 500 degrees F and place a pizza stone in the lowest third of the oven.
    • Place a big sheet of parchment paper on your work area and set it aside. Lightly cover an 11-inch circle of it with nonstick spray to prevent it from sticking. Nonstick spray should be sprayed on the top of the dough (which will be in a ball at this time). Roll the dough out into a 10-inch circle using a rolling pin to make it easier to work with. Cover with a second layer of parchment paper if desired. Continue to shape and pat the dough into an 11 12-inch circle using a rolling pin and your hands
    • remove the top piece of parchment paper from the dough and gently sprinkle the top of the dough with all-purpose flour. Spread flour evenly over the dough with your hands or a pastry brush, brushing aside any excess flour as you go. Use all-purpose flour to generously coat a pizza peel (if you don’t have a pizza peel, you may use the back of a flat baking sheet) before baking (do not use a baking sheet like this one that is textured). Turn the dough out onto the peel with the parchment side facing up. Take care not to damage the remaining piece of parchment paper
    • using a spoon, pour the pizza sauce over the dough, leaving a 3/4-inch border all the way around the edge for the crust
    • carefully remove the remaining sheet of parchment paper and discard
    • Distribute the cherry tomatoes evenly over the top of the dish. Remove the pizza stone from the oven (with caution, as it is quite hot). It should not be placed on a cold surface since it would fracture.) Slide the pizza dough onto the pizza stone with care, so that it does not break. Bake for 10 minutes in the lowest third of the oven.
    • Remove the pizza from the oven and top it with the creamy burrata cheese to finish it off. Return the dish to the oven, this time putting it on the higher rack, and bake for 3 to 4 minutes more, or until the burrata is hot and melty, whichever comes first. Toss the pizza with a pinch of red pepper flakes and flaky salt once it’s been transferred to a cutting board. Add the fresh basil and mix well. Cut into slices and serve as soon as possible
    • HOW TO STORE: Allow the cooked pizza to cool fully before transferring it to an airtight storage container and storing it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
    • IN ORDER TO REHEAT LEFTOVER PIZZA: Place the pizza on a microwave-safe pan and cook on low power until warmed through

    What is burrata, exactly?

The tricks to how to make burrata pizza

    • This is the problem. Burrata has a significant amount of liquid. It is possible for a pizza to become a watery mess when burrata cheese is included as an ingredient. Adding burrata to pizza may be done in a variety of ways. Some people spoon it directly onto the dough, while others use a spoon to dollop it on top. Others bake the pizza and then add the entire ball of burrata on top of it, cutting it in half to spread the cheese evenly throughout the pie. Here’s the secret to making this burrata pizza (which, in our opinion, is very delicious): 1. Cook the pizza with shredded mozzarella cheese first, then add the rest of the ingredients. This helps to brown the dough and melt the cheese on the bottom layer of the pizza. If you put the burrata on at the beginning of the cooking process, it will become excessively watery by the conclusion of the cooking time.
    • In the last 3 minutes of cooking time, add the burrata pieces. Yes, you will really take the pizza out of the oven, top it with burrata bits, and then put it back in the oven to finish baking it. Just as the burrata begins to melt into a gooey uniform layer, you’ll remove it from the oven.

A 5 minute pizza sauce that tastes like Italy

    • Easy Pizza Sauce and Pizza Dough are the finest ways to make this burrata pizza taste like it came straight from Italy. Our pizza sauce is one of our favorite recipes on this website, and we’ve shared it with you. It continues to wow us every time we make it. The following are the keys of making this sauce: Use tomatoes that have been cooked over an open fire. Because these tomatoes have been roasted, their flavor is richer and more developed when served straight from the can. There is nothing more to it than a fast mix of the ingredients in a blender to finish it off. Give it a try, and you’ll fall in love with it.

Homemade pizza dough is always worth it

What Is Burrata and How Is It Made?

Take a back seat, mozzarella.Burrata is considered to be the most delicious Italian cheese available.Italians are well-versed in their cheese.

But, dare I say it, no Italian cheese has demonstrated this more than burrata in recent years. This relatively new cheese was created in the first half of the twentieth century. But when you cut into it with a fork, you’ll find a surprise on the other side: an ooey, goey combination of heavy cream and little cheese curds.Everything about this dish begs to be scooped up with a slice of crusty Italian bread!Learn about this Italian cheese and find top-rated recipes for showcasing it in your home.

Discover all you need to know about burrata in this comprehensive guide.

    What Is Burrata?

Burrata is a soft, fresh Italian cheese made from cow’s milk that is popular throughout the Mediterranean.Simply by looking at it, this cheese might easily be mistaken for fresh mozzarella — and that’s because the outer shell is comprised of soft mozzarella, not hard mozzarella. You’ll be pleasantly pleased to find an oozing, velvety inside consisting of little cheese curds and cream when you break into it.

In fact, the Italian name burro literally translates to butter, which gives you an indication of how rich and creamy it is to begin with. This delectable cheese has its origins in southern Italy and has been there since the early 1900s (at least four centuries after the development of mozzarella).Since then, burrata has been a staple in many Italian cuisines, including pizza, spaghetti, and caprese salads, among others. However, in my view, there is no better way to enjoy burrata than on its own, with a drizzle of olive oil and a slice of Italian bread.Burrata cheese from Apulia served with olive oil, thyme, salt, and pepper.

    How Is Burrata Made?

Burrata is simply a mozzarella crust that is wrapped around a decadent blend of cheese curds and cream that has been shaped into a soft, pliable ball by hand. The question is: how does it get from mozzarella and cream to the gooey ball of cheesy bliss that we know and love? It’s a painstaking procedure that has been refined by Italian artisans, but we’ll try to explain it as simply as possible in this article.

Burrata is made in the same way as any other cheese, with cultures and rennet being added to warm, fresh cow’s milk.As soon as the milk begins to curdle, the whey separates and is drained from the mixture.Following that, boiling water is poured over the curds, which are then stretched, resulting in the creation of cheese.Burrata, on the other hand, differs from mozzarella in the following ways: With the stretched curd, you may make a bag that will be afterwards filled with a mixture of cream and freshly squeezed curd. The bag is then sealed to form the distinctive dumpling-like shape that distinguishes burrata.

Burrata vs. Mozzarella: What’s the Difference?

On the basis of looks alone, it’s easy to mistake burrata for freshly grated mozzarella. However, as we all know, appearances aren’t everything. When it comes to burrata, mozzarella is a necessary element since it is utilized to create the outside wrapping, or ″shell.″ The core of burrata is formed from a blend of fresh cream and curds, as opposed to the center of mozzarella, which is made from stretched curds all the way through.

Although the flavors of the two cheeses are identical, burrata has a looser, more creamy texture as a result of the addition of cream.Burrata has a larger fat content than mozzarella, which is due to the cream used in its production. Both varieties of cheese are often wrapped in a liquid to keep the moisture in the cheese from escaping. While both cheeses are rich in flavor and texture, burrata’s creamy heart makes it the ideal indulgence for those who want a little luxury every now and again.

    Substitutes for Buratta

Fresh mozzarella is the next best thing to burrata in terms of flavor and texture.Because the two cheeses are so similar in terms of flavor and components, they will be the most effective alternatives for one another when used in recipes. However, mozzarella does not have the same creamy, loose texture as burrata, which makes it a poor substitute for it.

When it comes to melting cheese, fresh mozzarella is always a better (and more cheap) option than pre-shredded mozzarella. The creamy center of burrata is what makes it so delicious, yet when it is melted, it loses its charm.

    How to Eat Burrata

For the best results with burrata, use it in meals that can really showcase the texture difference it provides. In order to achieve the greatest results, always serve it at room temperature. As we’ve already established, my favorite method to enjoy it is by drizzling it with a little olive oil and scooping it up with a crusty loaf of Italian bread that has been toasted.

    How to Store Burrata

Because of the luxurious, creamy texture of burrata, it can be difficult to keep it fresh for long periods of time. After being chopped up, burrata is best eaten right away to maximize its flavor and freshness.Because of the high moisture level of this cheese, it will not freeze well.Up to five days can be kept refrigerated in its original packaging or in an airtight container filled with water.

    Buffalo Mozzarella & Burrata Pizza

The 4th of November, 2015 Since the first time I sliced into a ball of burrata cheese and watched the creamy curds oozing out, I’ve been head over heels in love with the cheese.Burrata is a type of cheese that originated in Puglia and consists of an outer shell of mozzarella that surrounds a core of curds and cream.Burrata is traditionally served chilled.Although the curds have a very little tang to them, the texture is smooth and creamy, and the flavor is mild as well.

    1. This summer, while on vacation in Umbria, I came across a pizza recipe on the cover of a magazine and became captivated with the idea of preparing it myself.
    2. The pizza was a normal Margherita pizza, which is simply a tomato sauce, mozzarella, and basil pizza, but what made this pizza special was that as soon as you take it out of the oven, you pour some of the creamy burrata curds over the top of the pizza, which made it taste even better.
    3. The heat from the pizza gently heats the burrata without completely cooking it, resulting in a creamy, cheesy topping for the pie.

Although burrata cheese used to be very hard to come by in the United States, it has become much more widely available in recent years.I even purchased some from Trader Joe’s recently, though I have yet to try it.Despite the fact that it is quite simple to put together and requires just a few ingredients, this pizza is genuinely exceptional. When working with basic ingredients, such as those included in this pizza, it is critical to ensure that they are of the highest possible quality. To make my pizza sauce, I prefer to use either Mutti or Pomi brand tomatoes, and we like our sauce to have a very fresh flavor, similar to the flavor of pizza sauce in Italy, therefore I do not heat it before serving it.Make sure you taste the tomatoes straight from the can to see whether or not they are a decent choice.

It should have the flavor of fresh, ripe tomatoes, with no sour aftertaste at all.The mozzarella should be fresh and offered in balls, and if at all feasible, I’d recommend using buffalo mozzarella instead of regular mozzarella.Because the burrata is the star of this pizza, it truly cannot be replaced with anything else on the plate.Of course, the basil must be picked just before serving. When making this pizza, you do not want to use dried basil from a jar!

We are fortunate enough to have a pizza oven at both our home in Umbria and our current residence in the United States, but you can create a decent pizza in your kitchen oven as well.Simply verify that your oven is preheated and that the temperature is set to its maximum setting.I usually make my pizza dough the day before we plan to have pizza because it allows the dough to aerate and enhance in flavor the following day.

You may buy pre-made pizza dough at many grocery shops if you don’t have time to prepare your own from scratch. Our Florida Pizza Oven is ready to serve you!Cheers to a good meal!
